I've been having a really hard time with over eating this past month. Most of it is becuase of added stresses and changes in my life, but there is also a little bit of me just not caring anymore. Actually, to say I don't care anymore would be a huge understatement. A more acurate way of saying it would be I don't have the emotional energy right now to care as much as I need to. I feel like my eating has become out of controll again. I haven't gained any weight from recent bad eating habbits, but it's only a matter of time before I do. I'm so scared I'm going loose controll completely and regain the 75lbs I've lost. I don't know what to do. I need help. How do I get myself motivated again? What are some things you guys have done to keep yourselves motivated in times of stress? Anty suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

It really sounds to me that you are getting "burned" out on dieting. Why don't you just try to maintain where you are at right now to give yourself a break. Say for a month or so. And then when that time is up if you feel that you are ready go back on your weight loss plan. Just keep your chin up. You have done such a great job. When you get feeling down just remember what you have accomplished. But that is all I can really think of for you to do since I'm not near my goal yet. And luckly haven't hit a plateau yet either. Good Luck. Kim

Fidget...
I wouldn't stress out over a week or two of non-nutritious eating. What is more impoartant is the mental slump you are in. I know that it is easier to tell yourself that you don't care anymore than to spend the energy caring. But I remind myself that it takes work to be "fat" and it takes work to be "thin". Its just a matter of making yourself like one kind of work better than another.
Here is my "cure" for you, fo rwhat its worth. Go out there and work out! You can do it and you WILL feel great afterwards. Then eat a good "healthy" meal and then go to bed. Make this thread your springboard. Commit from this moment on to give yourself no more excuses. :)

fidget,
Sometimes our emotions are what sabotages us. I find that I need to take my emotions out of play. I have to plan to succeed. That way, even if I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I can't take it out on myself by overeating. I buy only good stuff to have around the house. I've revisited all the reason's I wrote down for wanting to lose weight. If you haven't done this I'd suggest it. Plus, you could pick out the most important ones and put them up where you get dressed everyday or somewhere you'll be sure to see them. Just because you've had a rough time doesn't mean that you are a failure or that you've totally lost control. It means that you are human with real life stresses and trials. It also doesn't mean that you won't get back on track. Keep in mind how long it's taken us all to acquire these not-so-healthy habits and it's going to be a lifelong battle. I don't think there will ever be a time when the game is totally over.....crossed the goal line...goal scored...game over. I've seen some of your art on your website. You are an amazing soul with many gifts. You've already come so far. Give yourself some credit for what you've already done. I really wish I could say something that would magically make your struggles go away :( Just don't give up on yourself and know that you're not alone.

Make a NEW goal, and change up things...do a diff workout and try new recipes...but most of all DON'T give up. You will feel worse than you do now if you let yourself go and have to do it all over again.
Whatever challenges you are facing in your life need to be scrutinized...if you are in complete control of those things..then do what you gotta do...but if not...roll with it and let it out of your hands..and off your shoulders and only focus on the things you ARE in control of.
Hope things look up for you soon. BTW...why don't you have one last cheat night...(since you said you were eating badly anyway...and eat a big bowl of popcorn...watch Titanic...have yourself a HUGE cry...and let it all out...and begin fresh tomorrow...a NEW DAY..A NEW BEGINNING...release the past and go FORWARD. It might make you reassess your recent troubles in a whole new light.
Ww...
P.S. if you aren't into the popcorn thing...make in a low cal kind..but Titanic is a really good " feeling depressed breaker"

Believe it or not, working out actually helps clear my mind. So if you are really stressed, take a few minutes and work out. You really don't have time to think when you are working out.
My sister recently went through a break up with a man she was with for 7 years....they weren't married but owned a home together. The stress pretty much tore her apart and to clear her mind she would hop on the treadmill. In fact I had to tell her she was working out too much.
losing 75lbs was a great accomplishment and just keep remember how great it made you feel! If you have to pull out those old pictures.

Hey, I feel yah sista! I am the same way. And when it comes down to it you need to sit down and evaluate yourself. You have two choices: You can either go back to your eating habits and gain all the weight back(and you might be happier with this), or you can work really hard to change the way you think about food and keep the weight off for the rest of your life. Food should not be for any other purposes other than to nourish your body. Start to think of eating as something you have to do, not something you necessarily want to do. Your motivation should be where you want to be in your life. Come up with a goal for yourself, such as wearing a bikini, or a pair of shorts, to motivate you and keep you going. Write down your emotions everytime you eat something. Are you eating because you are hungry(and by hungry I mean your stomach feels empty, not just craving food), or are you eating because you have nothing better to do? When you find out why you are eating, come up with a solution. My personal secret is taking a nap. It totally gets your mind off of food. GOOD LUCK!

I know what you mean...I think sometimes we forget why we began our journey.
Why not take some time to think about it? Make a list of why you hated being overweight? What did it feel like? What made you decide you wanted to change things? Were there things you couldn't do because of your weight?
Sometimes we have to think back in order to move forward...just something to consider.

hey fidget, well reading your post totally hit home. i had been doing really well and then for some reason, when valentines day hit, i pigged out for the first time in a months (i had been really good about eating little and i wasn't even hungry) and then i haven't been able to stop since! i haven't put on a whole lot of weight but i'm just in that "i don't really care" phase. and like you, i DO care and every day i say, okay i'll be good and for the most part i am, but not AS good as i can be... anyway reading all the responses to your post made me feel a little better. i think i was just stressed out... trying to relax a little... but hang in there and i know we'll both bust out of this... what would the ups be without the downs right??

Thanks for all of the encoraging words guys ^_^. I'm going to get myself back on track no matter what it takes! If that means taking a break becuae I'm burnt out on dieting then that's what I'll do. If it means just starting to excersize again the I'll hop to it. Thanks again for the nice words. It's just what I needed to get through the rest of the day.
