...I want to revisit the Whey ve Soy protein topic again, cause i went to the doctor today, and through talking with him, i told him what i was doing exercise wise, and eating wise, and i told him i was taking whey protein powder after my workouts to feed my just worn-out Muscles, and i said that Whey is much better than Soy. Well he stopped me right there and said i was wrong. I told him about you, and what you said about Soy not being as good for Muscle regrowth and what not, and he said you were totally wrong. Hhe gave me alot of info on this, and he refered me to a website to read up on an article, i thought i would share it with you, and the others here who choose whey over Soy protein.
It clearly gives accurate info on this debate, and confirmed medical sources as well.
Enjoy GM, the site is....

Let me know your retort GM.

I would chose whey over soy protein any day. Soy gives me hives the same as cow's milk. Even though I know that whey is a derivative from cow's milk for some reason whey has never given me any bad side effects. Soy on the other hand and in every case and everytime has.

Thats a personal reaction with you. Facts are, Soy protein is better for Muscle growth..( Like the artice states )..and has WAY MORE Glutimine than Whey, and does not have any estronage in it that causes growth of female hormones. I think GymMachine is getting bad advice on Soy. I think he, as well as others feel that since Soy was derived from a plant source, there is no way it could be as good. But, that was the Soy protein of 10 + years ago. The pure Soy Isolate has an even better amount of pure protein that is way better for Body builders after a hard workout. It also goes on to say that Soy protein is best when Bodybuilders want to cut up for a contest, cause it raises the Thyroid levels in your Tsh levels and TX levels, which contorls ones metabolism.
Whey may not give you hives, but Soy IS a better Protein to have. Not that Whey is bad, it certainly is not, just not as good or effective in recouperating Muscle growth as Soy is.

it said the site cant be found...but guess what...your right..Soy often contains higher protein amounts and possibly higher glutamine....but guess what also...the body cant use them all...did u ask your doc about biological value? ill give u an example..
Soy product 1 - 25gms of protein per serve
BV (biological value) - 50
This means your body is able to absorb 12.5 grams of protein
Whey product 2- 20gms or protein per serve
BV- 95
This meanss your body can absorb around 18gms of protein (my math is prob wrong this is just an example)
ill be brutally honest...doctors are trained in the medical field...they will only give u an opinion on what they believe is correct...and lets face it there field is not really that of bodybuilding....you can take his advice if u like...all i know is soy does contain Phytoestrogens (a female 'enhancer') and lowers your testosterone levels...this is proven and has been for a long time now...it also takes an extremely long time to digest...its gluggly and will sit in your stomach for a long time, a good portion of it not being used for what u want and ends up down the crapper litterelly...hell even i had bad gas when i tried soy...so why do supplement companies sell it? because its cheap to make, and they know people who read a label saying 'hey its high in protein' will buy their product...cha ching for the company...i could give u a list of many articles proving the oppisite that whey is better than soy but instead ill ask u a question....what professional bodybuilder do u know of or have heard of that uses soy protein as their supplement regime...u think Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman uses soy? Jay Cutler? how about even Arnie? these guys wouldnt be caught dead with the stuff.....
it really is up to you if u want to take soy....but i will personally guarentee you would get better results on whey.

...Someone i'm afraid has given you bad info GM. There is NO Phytoestrogens in MY Soy product, and, the Base Value of the dry protein is 95 %, as opposed to my EAS Whey which is 90 %. Also, my Doctor is not my medical doctor, but my nutritionalist, and, that site he gave me, is one written by a Doctor and Bodybuilder, and lists many examples from which he gets his info from. He is not some Vegggie Boy trying to Push Soy.
Gym, if you tried to enter that web address, i think you might have typed a - mark instead of the ~ mark, the mark just left of your # 1 on your keypad. That's the one you have to type just after the first / after the word net. I'll type it out once again.
www.sover.net/~timw/soyvswhy.htm
Remember GymMachine, the dash right after the first
/ and before the word Timw, is a wavey line ~, and NOT a basic straight dash like this -
Good luck in finding it.
Ron.

Why does it matter so much who is right and who is wrong? Do (and believe) what works for you. Nobody is making anybody here listen to their advice.
A response to Gymmachine such as: "I'm sorry, but, I'll have to disagree with you." would have sufficed instead of ranting and raving about it!
