I've been diligently monitoring my caloric intake for about 4 weeks now, keeping it around 1,200 per day, using FitDay.com to track everything, not eating anything white, hauling my butt to the gym 6 days/week, doing cardio every day (at least 30 minutes but usually 40-45 on the treadmill or elliptical machine) and also doing weights (alternating between upper body and lower body), drinking 3-4 liters of water daily...let's see, what else? I am still drinking caffeine but I think I'm doing everything else right. My sister, who has trained for 17 years and competed in a couple of bodybuilding competitions, has been helping me with my nutritional plan and she seems to think I'm doing everything right BUT my question is this...
when I use the online calculators to figure out how much I should reduce my calories down to in order to lose 2 lbs. per week, it says around 1,500. I've only been losing about 1 lb. per week and it's soooo frustrating! And I know I tend to be very impatient when it comes to weight loss!
Do you see anything that I could be doing wrong or what I should be doing differently? I'm also coming off of the Depo Provera shot at the end of this month, just FYI. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

my only suggestion to an otherwise excellent schedule would be to change your cardio to 4 times per week and to do interval training...its harder work but your out of the gym in 20 mins atleast...you should get your sis to help you with this, she should know what it is if ur not sure...20 mins is all u need...3 mins or so warm up and gun-ho for a minute, jog phase for 2 mins, gun-ho for another minute etc etc..you can chop and change your sprint phases/jogging phases to what suits your level (you dont want to cark it going to hard straight up!)...and with time u want to increase your sprint phases of the cardio and reduce your jogging phases...i would try this as i think this will help your cause alot...the all things white is cutting out your starchy carbs i take it...good move but i would eat some after training and after training only...high glycemic carbs or starchy carbs as they used to be known are handy post training (cardio and weights) to replace glycogen, although this wont stop u from losing weight so its really neither here nor there depending on how technical u want to get...im thinking on the weekends too, to increase your cals to about 1700...your body will appreciate this compared to its normal cal reduction and hence be beneficial in losing weight...its still in cal restriction but not overly like 1200...your body will be thinking 'hey we arent competely starving all the time, we are getting food regularly, in appreciation i will lose some of this fat'...sounds funny i know, but u would be suprised what the body is capable of...even if u eat to maintanance on the weekends your still going to lose weight...its like a safeguard incase your restricting cals too much (which could be possible since 1200 is supposedly going to drop more than 2 pounds per week based on your diet, which is a fairly substantial cal restriction)...other than those things everything looks ok...try mix it up and dont be afraid to eat a little more every now and again, alot of the time it actually helps ur results...and try the intense cardio, its not pleasent but the results are phenomenal if u want to work for them.

You suggested increasing my calories on the weekends to 1,700 but I would like to know what I should add (good stuff not crap) to get an extra 500 cals? More fruits or more veggies? That is a scary thought...guess I've been brainwashed into the 1,200 max!

You said that you are comingoff the Depo at the end of the month? You may see quite a change then since the Depo is so known for weight gain. But other then that I would take GymMachines advice. Good Luck.

yeah i was scared too when i tried it..thats pretty normal...make it up with things like fruit and veggies yeah but dont deprive yourself of the occasional bad food..a candy bar or something even...it will help satisfy cravings perhaps..plus at 1700 your still under anyway so you have nothing to fear, remember that when or if u try it this way.....carbing up is a good thing too..you proba get anough carbs but they are our primary fuel source..an extra 500 cals of carbs would help your training, especially if u decided to try the interval training...remember though, the bottom line is 1700 is still under and you will still lose weight.

I struggled with my weight so much that I never even tried it. I just took the pill well I should say tried to remember to take the pill, now I have had 3 children. Now I don't have to worry about it because I had my tubes tied.

I gained 20 pounds on that damn shot. I was at my preganancy weight 2 years after my daughter was born. If I would've known then I would have never started taken that god-forsaken shot.
