I have just read your response to weight gain and the birth control pill, and I feel compelled to respond.... I am sure you are very educated regarding weight loss and fitness, since you seem to offer alot of advice on a variety of topics, HOWEVER there is no way you could possibly know the effects of taking the pill. It is a known fact that the pill can lead to weight gain, that is why doctors are not surprised when women come in with this complaint. I feel that it is all about finding the right combo of hormones for each person. My post was simply asking if anyone else was experiencing this frustrating side effect. By stating that my failure to lose weight was probably caused by something I was doing and not my pill, is de-valuing mine and others efforts to lose weight.

i never disagreed...i know the pill can make u gain a little weight...the only point i was trying to make (and this isnt reference to you) is that people will blame outragous gains, like 100 pounds on birth control...alot of the time the pill was just a minority on this and it was poor eating habits coupled with lack of exercise which is 99% of the problem...like i said, i agree the pill can make u pack on a few pounds but you cant hold them accountable for long term weight gain that increases every week....i just believe that there are other factors which influence larger scale weight gains, not the pill.

I hate to pipe in... but years ago, when I first went on BC.. they switched me around alot before finding that I had an estrogen intollerance that causes migranes, and during that time period of switching around every 3 months or so, I packed on 65 lbs.. and was an instructor of...and fully active semi-pro kickboxer. I changed NOTHING about my eating or exercize habits and continued to compete on an international level and STILL put on excessive weight. However, once I was on the BC that worked for me for about a year, my hormones leveled off and the weight came off rather easily. HOWEVER... some women's hormones never stabilize and you can really battle a weight problem.
just my 2 c.
