Grrr!! It seems to be a cycle with me.I'll do "well" one week (ie. eat enough so I'm satisfied but haven't consumed too many calories - I keep track on fitday.com) and then the next week, I feel like I'm out of control! Does anyone else feel this way? What does it mean? Am I restricting myself too much?
Advice?

I can definitely identify. I am just coming off of the Mother of All Binges--the first one in 10 months, and it lasted for a few days--so perhaps I'm not the best person to give advice, but that has never stopped me before. :) When I started out on the "serious" diet last year, I was very strict with myself for a few weeks, and then the cravings and hunger really diminished (and it took very unusual circumstances last week to revive them). Before then, I'd diet for a few days, and then give in and eat too much. I've read it takes 21-28 days to establish new habits, and apparently that goes for eating habits as well. The trick is that you really have to stick with the new habit, and not give in to your old impulses, and it's not much fun. My doctor told me it is both a physical and a psychological thing when it comes to eating, and that it does take a few weeks. So I'd say that it's not that you're restricting yourself too much, it's just that old habits die hard. My opinion, for whatever it's worth.

Miranda, you really give me hope. Some people may have noticed that I haven't been posting as much in the last couple of days. The reason is because I've REALLY been struggeling lately. My main source of contengency? CARBS!!!!
I've been craving em like gangbusters! I've got to get a grip! I haven't let all my habits go, I'm still excercising and drinking water. I'm going to try to concentrate on adding back in the fruits and veggies instead of focusing on what I shouldn't be eating....that's how I did it before. I don't want to go back to my old way of existing. Notice I said existing, NOT living? Wish me luck...
