Hi
I am a 63 year old male and have been a vegetarian for 13 years. I have not been able to take off the last 20 lbs of excess weight. I don't eat tofo or much protein and try to stay away from dairy. Is there anything I can do to keep my appetite from running me?

Eatting more protein with keep you fuller, longer. When you eat carbs it raises your incelin level and then stores carbs as fat. When you eat protein it takes your body a longer to digest so you feel more satisfied. Soy protein is a very good source of protein. You can find it in powder form that you add to meals.(Soups, vegetables, sauces, etc.) By doing this you will notice that your calorie intake will decrease and you will then again lose weight.

I TOO AM A VEGETARIAN (12 YEARS NOW). YOU STATED THAT YOU DONT EAT A LOT OF PROTEIN...YOU SHOULD TRY TO EAT A LITLLE MORE PROTEIN. SOY IS A VERY HEALTHY OPTION (WE HAVE THE OPTION OF BURGERS, "CHICKEN", "SAUSAGES", AND A LOT MORE). IF YOU EAT EGG WHITES THEY TOO ARE A GREAT FORM OF LOW FAT HEALTHY PROTEIN. MANY VEGETARIANS EAT A LOT OF FRIED FOODS LIKE FRENCH FRIES AND CHIPS. MAYBE THAT'S WHY YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE. GOOD LUCK
