Ok do the CALORIES make you fat or is it the amount of fat in the certain food that makes you fat?
I mean if someone drank about 1000 calories worth of milk a day could they possibly get fat?
or if someone ate patatoe chips or chicken worth 1000 calories would that make them fat?
lets say a person ate nothing but chicken and chips for a montH (2000 calories a day worth) while another person ate veggies (2000 calories a day) for month. On the end of the month which one would gain more weight(assuming they both had same amount of excercise), the person eating nothing but veggies or the person eating nothing but chicken and chips or would they both be at the same weight since they both consume the same amount of calories?
also is there a way to find out how many calories you should be consuming a day for your height and weight to maintain your weight?
Thanks in advance :)

Although it seems crazy........the two would gain the same amount....provided they were clones of each other of course, since every person gains and loses differently. 2000 calories is 2000 calories no matter if it is a 1,000 celery sticks or 3 bags of potato chips, it s all the same. As for finding the magic number to maintain your weight, you can find a calculator on this site. You need to subtract 500 from that each day in order to lose a pound a week. Hope this helps!!!

Oh boy... where do I begin on this one. First, yes, you can get fat on ANYTHING.... even celery, if you eat enough of it. Basically, calories are a measure of energy and, whatever energy you don't use in a day (ie-- excess calories) gets stored in your body as fat -- well triglycerides actually (one glycerol attached to three fatty acid chains thus making it a triglyceride). Anyway, to answer the 'weight' question... the person who ate the chicken would weigh more. The reason I say this is simple.... muscle weighs more than fat and protein from meat builds muscle; soo.... the person who ate the chicken would more than likely have more dense muscle tissue because he/she is feeding their muscles. The vegetable person would lose water weight and lean out, and of course 'weigh' less. This is the question I ask you though.... are u more concerned with 'weight' or 'mass/density'? What I mean is this: if you could be lean and toned say like.... Vin Diesel or you could look like Toby McGuire... which would you prefer? Vin isn't fat... but I'm telling you right now that he weighs more than another guy his height because of his muscle mass. Muscle cells naturally burn 9 calories at rest, whereas fat cells burn 4 calories at rest? Do you see where I am going with this? If you want to be lean and toned up -- have a nice build/physique -- well defined and all that, then you NEED to do at least 20 mins of cardio a day (to burn carbs you intake) plus you need to do at least 30 mins of weight training/day. You also need to start consuming high protein, low fat meats/fish. For example... instead of having a chicken leg... have a skinless chicken breast; instead of having a pot roast, have a lean cut sirloin or T-bone steak. You need to reduce your simple carbs (white flour products) and replace them with complex carbs (whole wheat products, brown and wild rice, etc) and also reduce the fat content you take in -- ie make healthier meat choices. In addition, avoid fruits like the plague.... they're LOADED with sugar and eat LOTS of salad, green, red and leafy veggies. Drink 2 litres (8 cups) of water a day and believe me, you'll see a difference. :))
Hope this helps!:))
