I HATE IT!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME IM HAVING TO GO ON A DIET!!! i recently discovered that my ideal weight is 120 lb and I weigh 126 lb!!!! i look slim but would like to look that bit slimmer!! i know it might sound horrible for those of you out there who are overweight but thats life!!! I now have a question HOW CAN THE #### DOCTORS SAY MY IDEAL WEIGHT IS 120 LB??? I THINK I WOULD LOOK A LITTLE TOO SKINNY!!! Why are the docors preaching about losing weight and giving such a low ideal weight and at the same time preaching about anorexia and the dangers of it!!! i feel that at 126 I am fine and its my option to look good and lose that extra bit but i wanna know if a person can go by weighing scales or if they should go according to how their clothes fit???

Time to change doctors! There is usually a 10 pound span around what is your "goal weight". It is figured out with taking into consideration; height, bone structure, etc. Once you get within that "goal weight", you aim for your "desired weight". A place where you like how you feel and look. (Notice I put "feel" first). My weight is calculated to be between 125-135. I felt great when I reached 135, and didn't diet anymore, but continued to go down to 129. If you think you are 6 pounds overweight, it could just be water retention. You better make sure it is safe for you to diet, you don't want to be at an unhealthy low weight.

I don't see how being 6 pounds overweight will put you at any significant health risks, but, I'm not a doctor either.
My personal opinion - if you feel you are at a healthy weight, stick where you are.
