Here's my thought (once again, on the loose skin issue), that EVENTUALLY, as I lose more and more weight, this looseness will HAVE to go. After all, there will be nowhere else for my body to lose weight, but there (stomach, upper arms, upper thighs).
Not to mention, now that I'm lifting weights and going to the gym on a regular basis, I should eventually tone up in those areas also.
I don't expect my stomach to look like Britney Spears, but, it would be nice for it to be somewhat flat and not so saggy!
Any thoughts?

I'm dealing with the same thing. It's so slow, but I do think that eventually it will come off, I've started losing inches in that area finally, but very slowly. I've been doing lots of weightlifting, abs, and cardio. It took a full year to get to an acceptable weight, I'm planning on it taking all of year two just to get rid of the stomach pouch and lean down, hopefully it won't really take that long. I'm learning to be very patient.

shari,... if you are just talking about skin, not fat undernieth the skin.... the skin may not shrink back all the way...
it might be possible, for most of it to shrink, but i am under the impression that it won't
maybe someone else knows more than i do

Hi Shari;
Unfortunately I don't think that loose skin is something you can completely fix. You've lost a huge amount of weight and depending on your age, your skin might not have the elasticity it once had and hence it may stay looser than you'd like it too...as Melody said, skin isn't what you're burning off or toning really, its whats under the skin thats disappearing...the skin is more like a cover on top of it.....
However, maybe there is some fat underneath it that hasn't been completely toned yet that is making the skin seem more saggy than it really is and all you can do to figure that out is keep exercising and toning...if that doesn't change anything....maybe surgury is an option but I know there is a whole SLEW of issues that come with that...ie/ financing and possible complications etc.....
But dont' get caught up in it all...you've done an AWESOME job and skin issues or not...just be proud! WAHOO!!

I don't really know. I'm 18, and my arms are -awful- looking after losing weight. Seriously, I have about 3" of flab hanging off of them, which keeps me from wearing even t-shrits to university.
I'm still fairly far from my ultimate goal weight of 150, but I have just assumed in my head that my arms will always be flabby. I'm not sure if it eventually just comes off, but I suppose it's a theory that is worth testing when we get down to our goal. None of us are right there yet, I don't think, but we will be sooner or later.

well being skin and not fat, the looseness doesnt have to 'go'...depends on your skins elasticity as you continue to drop weight...you feel as though the skin is fat, but in truth it isnt...weight training is designed to make muscles bigger and stronger....in fact muscles can only grow or shrink..if you think of a picture of a human body with skeletal muscle on it, you would know that muscle doesnt attach to skin per se, rather through ligaments/tendons etc etc to BONE...this is the key issue here....muscles wont pull in skin, simply because it cant...its not designed to...grow or shrink thats all muscle can do..toning refers to a lack of body fat, displaying the outline of muscle underneath...toning relates to fat more than it does to muscle...all you can do is keep going on your path and assess where you are at your goal weight...until then noone really knows how much sag is going to remain.

I have no hope of the skin on my stomach going anywhere the stretch marks are holding it down. (sad but oh so true)

I think of it as a balloon. It's all small and tight, then you blow it up and it gets big. Then you decide to let all the air out. And it never quite looks the same again. You can squeeze all the air out of it till you're left with only balloon, but that balloon will never look the way it did before you filled it up! It's now stretched out and saggy.
I'm already trying to figure out how to save up for a tummy tuck! I know I will need one! ;)
