I haven't been able to run this week because of runner's knees and an hurt achilles tendon so I pulled down my bike, pumped up the tires and went for a Sunday ride. I know that it was no real ride compared to your treks, but I did think of you while doing my 10 miles up and down hills - the downs were fun, the ups hurt a lot.
How many miles do you normally ride in a workout? Haven't seen you post in a while, you doin OK?

Hey Don,
I am sooo all right. One of the great advantages of biking is that it's easy on the knees. I walk all day, every day behind a mower, so walking is no fun. I ran when I was younger, and I don't think I have much left in the way of knees.
Currently I roll out of bed and do 9.5 miles before coffee in the AM. I'm limited as to my speed because it's very dark and you can only see so far with a light. This is daily and I rarely if ever miss this ride.
Then if all is well (sometimes) I do it again in the evening. Sometimes I do 20 miles in the evening, it just depends on how much time I have. Often, I have other obligations and can't make a night ride at all.
This weekend I did a 32 mile ride and a 17 mile ride. I really impressed myself because I did a 13 mile uphill to 2390 feet and I wasn't a bit sore the next day.
My longest rides are in the 50-60 mile range with an average speed of about 14.7 to 15.3 mph (this includes traffic lights etc).
This weekend I will do my first organized ride. It is a kickoff pre event for the AIDS Life Cycle 4 ride. It is 45-50 miles in and around SF. I will register for ALC 4 then, and the serious training begins.
I am so ready for this event!
I am averaging about 100 to 115 miles per week now.

Gosh lady,
That is so sweet of you to notice. Riding like this I can eat quite a bit and still lose weight!
