Yes, Ephedrine is scary.
I, stupidly, got onto it when I was in grad school as it helped with energy requirements for several all-nighters better than caffeine tabs. But teh side effects are frightening. I stopped taking it after reading about a woman who had gone plowing through a boarder crossing, killing a couple of people. She had been on teh supplement and reportedly lost all sense of what she was doing while in her car. I also had been noticing how fast my heard would beat while at rest, another frightening thought especially being so much overweight.
It's still a pretty popular body buildling enhancer and a lot of those protein-muscle building drinks contain it.
It's not that useful anyway for dietting, unless you want to stay up all night with half a brain.

Hubby and I tried it about 2 years ago...we both got on the "fitness train" and it was in some capsules I bought at GNC and I also was drinking shakes with it...something else I didn't know was I was getting a double dose of "creatine" All suggested to me by a "professional" at the store whom I explained the results I was looking for and she proceeded to sell me what I "needed" Well the day I stopped it all was when I was finished my workout and was at the table consuming one of these shakes...and my heart started pounding out of my chest...I was also beginning to feel VERY shaky and sweaty...(not from the workout) and felt very ill. I took a look at my shake and realized that it all started to happen and escalate as SOON as I begun drinking this formula. I washed it down the sink, put the lid on the container and then chased my already half a glass portion of shake with a tall glass of water and started to feel better about an hour later...so I don't think that stuff is even REMOTELY safe!

protein muscle drinks dont contain ephadrine at all sorry...its usually contained in a ECA stack...eg hydroxycut and xenedrine...somepeople can take it some cant....either way the article above doesnt directly relate the supplement use to his death...i dont condone nor push the use of stacks, but this article just causes blame on something they arent sure of yet

ahhhh....what was in the bottle/capsules ?
and what was in the shake? your shake wouldnt hace contained ephadrine, your pills did...so dont throw out the shake thats a totally diff thing....and creatine isnt bad at all, its not that that caused your tremors...creatine is already in the body, we make our own...adding extra simply fills the muscles with water making them appear bigger, fuller and tend to make u able to lift more...creatine is not a stimulant, your capsules would have been the culprit...i would stake my life on that assertion, i have combined creatine and many other things in my time...infact have ya ever had a steak? im sure u have...guess what? it contains around 2 grams of creatine...so as u can see kick the pills not the shake nor creatine

Good point about the blame part...and yes, it was Hydroxycut capsules that I was taking...I was in the beginning doses...but as for the shake...it did have ephedrine in it...it was in a large "NEW" sticker on the front and I remember distinctly calling a pharmacist and reading the ingredients on the labels to him to see what could be causing my discomfort...as I was ill enough to want to go to the hospital. He told me NOT to take shakes or the capsules...that...I understand to be not all the trouble as my hubby's formula didn't have ephedrine...I am trying so damned hard to remember the name of my shake that I took, so if I can't remember I am going to take a little stroll into the GNC nearby and find it out for you K? But I know for certain that the amounts of creatine...(although not bad in ONE product) was definitely not in a safe dose with me mixing the two products... I don't have anything against enhancers or anything that some ppl might feel helps them along, but I think I would stand where you do on the subject...I am not totally against...or totally FOR either. I am just an au naturel...feeding off Arnold's early years as he did it all natural. So it can be done with the good old fashioned "hard work and sweat" term. BUT>>>BUT >>>BUT>>> I do understand that some athletes have certain depleted nutrients that they feel they need to supplement, so I would be a hipocrite to say that I don't believe in someone supplementing themselves, because I...like many other anemics..have to take large doses of iron and although that doesn't come in a "trainers pill" form...it is still a supplement.
But the real problem here is this...I KNEW NOTHING about what and why I was taking these supplements and the lady who originally assisted me told me NOTHING about side effects and tweeking it to your regimen...blah blah blah...she was just happy to put the product in my hands and take the money out of my wallet and send me on my happy way. So I suppose being a smarter consumer was on the list of do's for me.
Thanks for your reply.

I know that I am one of those people who can't handle Epehdra based weight loss products. I have tried a Twin Lab one from GNC (about 5 years back) and Herbalife (about two years ago) and was fine on both for the first week and by the second week I was jittery, suffering from bad headaches and felt like my heart was ready to bust out of my chest.
I guess these things do work for some people, but I don't know if I would be willing to risk my health again by using ephedrine again for weight loss.
