What exactly is an elliptical? I have heard several of you talk about using one but I have never heard of it. Please enlighten me.... I did a search on google and from what I could find, they look similiar to a treadmill. Is that right, or is it something different altogether?

An Elliptical machine is kind of like a stationary bicycle without a seat. It has poles like a nordic trac. So it's a Nordic trackish stationary bike-like thing without a seat.
I'm sure I have been perfectly clear...sort of....

Basically what Eric said...
Except the one I have at home and at work does not have the arm things. It has stuff to hold on to, but not the thing that works your arms.
They are made to have no impact on your back and knees. I love them. I can't do a treadmill casue it really hurts my knees and back.
