We are leaving for Chicago from Oregon and we will be driving. What is some food that is safe in a restraunt? Safe as in not fattening?

I like getting veggie or chicken fajitas, hold the cheese. Anything with veggies, anything with chicken, I'm sure you'll be able to find alot. Sometimes I get brushetta with side garden salad, or vegetable soup and a meal-sized salad. You'll be able to tell by reading the menu what is better for you.

......and ask for skinless chicken, most of the fat is in the skin, and make sure they do not cook it in oil.
.....also, salads are ok, but regular salad dressings can really add on the calories, you might want to take a small bottle of fat-free dressing because they might not have it.
.....if you get canned fruit, make sure it is the kind packed in it's own juice and not in heavy syrup.
.....there are many foods that are ok in themselves, but can really have a lot of extra calories added by how they are prepared and what is used to top them with.
If you are going to a restaurant that is a fairly large chain then you might be able to find nutritional info online ahead of time, many might have their own web site and you can also check out sites like this one I found online -
http://www.dietfacts.com/
......so if you are careful you can enjoy eating at a restaurant without feeling guilty about too many calories afterwards :-)
