You know its funny, but since I started dieting seriously. I have noticed that whenever I eat bread or pasta or any kind of noodles. I lose control. I mean I literally cannot stop eating. Also it makes me feel kind of crazy too. I have to take one of my grapefruit diet pills in order to get myself calmed down and back on track. So even though many people have tried to say that Atkins was crazy with his dont eat carbs thing. Well now I am not so sure. However I do think that the caveman diet was on to something. With his only eat the things that can be found in nature and not any of the man made things. Because when I stick to just eating lean meats and veggies. I not only lose weight but I feel good too. Anyway just wanted to share that with you all. Does carbs do this to anyone else or is it just me???

I'm a HUGE carbs addict! I used to eat at least 1 cup of pasta with meals (usually more). I can't give them up though. So with portion control I weigh out my pasta, 2 oz dry; rice - 1/2 cup cooked ( I used to make 2 cups for the two of us). I only make enough for two that way I can't overeat them and neither can my bf and we both feel satisfied & full. When I used to make pasta or rice I could barely move after dinner, now I'm comfortably full and can actually get up & help with dishes, my bf washes because I cook every night, I know I'm very lucky to have him, he's one of a kind (after almost 7 years training - didn't want anyone to think they came that way, no offense guys, just kidding, he was just brought up that way, he's a good boy).
I tried the Atkins diet a few years ago and it worked in loosing weight till I caved & started eating pasta, rice, & bread again then the pounds came back on and then some.
I can't give up those foods for the rest of my life, "that's just kooky talk" (Seinfield reference) I just love my starches to much. I did buy some whole wheat pasta and still have to try it (I'm sometimes scared to try new things, I hate to screw up a meal). Anyway, I seem to be rambling. Atkins = good if you could stick with that plan for the rest of your life. I just love pasta & rice to much to do it.

I also love carbs, and I also tried the Atkins diet.If you can stick to it it works,I can't stick to it.I just need bread with my sandwich and noodles with my sauce. So like Tonya said if you can't stick to it for life the pounds come back quickly.I TRY to do what she said, eat less carbs, but not no carbs.

I do the same thing with starchy carbs, and have had to give them up except on special occasions. They taste great, they're fun to eat, they're pleasantly filling, they digest easily--in short, they're the perfect comfort food. My doctor informs me that eating starchy carbs also makes you crave more starchy carbs, because of how they affect your blood sugar, so there's a physical as well as a psychological component involved. I agree with you about feeling best and losing most when I stick to lean meat and vegetables. (I wouldn't go so far as to try to emulate a true cave man's diet, though--they were lucky to make it past the age of 30!)

Enjoy your carbs in moderation, and try to have whole grain carbs instead. Whole wheat pasta is great and does not taste that different from regular pasta. Pumpernickel and rye bread are all better alternatives to white bread.
