Why not eat anything (well not go mad,and try to keep it healthy) and consume around 1500 calories??The weight loss may be slow, but you are bound to get there one day.
Life isn't that simple for me,lol I'm the sort of person who can't stop at one cookie etc Anyone else?
The only thing that works for me is low carb :)

Well, I have not been doing so well these days but I have learned that if I decide I'm not going to eat any more cookies, ice cream, donuts etc. and try to stick with a more healthy diet I end up feeling deprived and eat more than I should. So I incorporate the "treat" into the number of calories I plan on having that day and it seems to work better for me.
But..............these days I am not losing. Just maintaining and it may be the sad truth that if I want to lose more (of course I do) then this junk food will have to be even more limited in my diet.
If "calories in vs. calories out" really works then yes, as you said, even I should lose weight if I eat less (of whatever) than I burn.
And the struggle goes on..................

Because not all foods are created equal.
That and if I stick to low-calorie/low-fat foods, I can actually eat MORE throughout the day than if I'd blow it all in one or two meals. Then there's balance. You have to balance your meals to try and get adequate amounts of fats, proteins, nutrients and carbs. Depriving yourself of one certain food group isn't very healthy. Then you've got metabolism; if you eat small, frequent meals, you keep your metabolism in check so it burns more fat. If you eat ANYTHING, even though you're keeping within your calorie range, and you're not eating the right foods, you hinder your fat-burning along with taking in artery-clogging fats and cholesterol.
Not saying you're eating high-fat foods, I'm just giving my opinion on the "eat anything" rule. Just because I'm allowing myself 1500 calories a day, it doesn't mean I can go eat a burger and fries, which kills most if not all of the 1500 calories, and wait till the next day to start over again. It's not good nutrition and I don't like going hungry. Sticking to low-fat/low-calories foods allows me to eat more :)

Kellyann, you are correct. You can eat anything, as long as you keep the calories lower than what you burn. When selecting foods, be sure to balance what you eat. When you get into maintenance you will find that things don't change that much. You want to select foods that you enjoy and can eat for a lifetime.
I work beer into my calories consumed. I allow for six beers on Friday and Saturday and two or three on Wednesday. Now, beer has no nutritionial value. It isn't good for you and in fact can cause harm in excess. However, I enjoy it and am willing to keep things in balance. I do not drink all six every Friday or Saturday -- just allow for it if I want to.
In my opinion, the key to success is to not feel deprived of your favorite foods, just eat them in moderation (or slightly modified with lower calories - such as substituting low fat mayo for regular or using low fat spray butter instead of the real stuff).
As for low carb diets, I believe they are dangerous, unhealthy and are very very difficult to maintain. I refuse to believe in any diet that says that oranges, bananas and other fruits are bad. Fruit is a big part of my diet and I eat it several times a day. I also enjoy whole grain breads.
good luck.

That's like the potato - a food once believed to be healthy is being lumped in with bad starches, white flour products and rice and pasta. That bothers me.
Potatoes are perfectly healthy, unless you drench them in butter and sour cream or eat them fried. I don't eat as MANY potatoes as I used to, due the carbs (I don't eliminate carbs, I just limit the amounts I eat) but I still eat them.
