When calories are given for meat, or anything for that matter, they mean after cooking, correct?
And what really is the freshest, other than straight from your own garden.
Fresh fruits and vegetables at the grocery store?
Frozen fruits and vegetables?
Canned fruits and vegetables?
Given of course that no sugar or fat is included. And can you really cook something so long that you cook the nutrients right out of them?

That's not a stupid question at all. I've often wondered myself. The websites I get information always states whether the meat is cooked or not in the stats. I assume that is because there is a difference, or perhaps just to alleviate confusion.
I'd say fruit from the produce isle is the freshest, frozen comes in 2nd (although they add sugar), and canned the least.

It all depends on the fruit. Half the time canned comes in top, and half the time fresh off the grocery stalls. You can discount frozen from the mix, because in case you didn't know, 99% of the fruit and Veg’ you think is fresh that you buy off the shelf has already been frozen. Can't let those bananas rot on the trip over from Costa Rica! :)
To be honest, it doesn't really matter. I don't so much like canned products and I'd rather get all mine 'fresh' from the grocers and steam it.

You're kidding, right?
Most of the fresh fruit and vegetables sold in the produce section are NOT frozen--if they were, all you would just see a bunch of slimy goo. It is true that they are shipped in refridgerated trucks, but not frozen. The reason we are able to have fresh fruit and veg is due to the awesome transportation systems we have in the US.
As for bananas from Costa Rica, they pick the bananas green and let them ripen on their trip to the US. If you freeze a banana, the skin will turn black.

It works fine on my computer which uses windows xp, but I have also used it without problem on a computer running windows 98 so it maybe it is something other than that that is causing a problem, perhaps you could e-mail them and they might know of a solution, an email I saw on their web site was jlarson@dietitian.com so tell them the error message you got and see what they say.

I have heard that a lot of the time frozen is better because it is harvested when it is ripe instead of being picked early so it will not spoil in transport.
I always buy fresh fruit but tend to buy a lot of frozen vegetables.
I never buy canned vegetables or fruit because I prefer the taste and texture of fresh or frozen. I have never really looked into how canning affects the nutrients.

A great deal of fresh produce is also sprayed with chemicals to keep it from getting ripe before it hits the shelves. And once you pick something it starts loosing nutrients, the produce you buy may have been picked over a week before it hits the shelves, if not more. With Frozen it is instantly frozen within hours if getting picked so chances are the nutrients are close to or better than fresh. The issue is what you loose when you are cooking it but that is the same for fresh. Canned is usually the bottom of the list. Compare what a frozen bag of corn has as far as vitamins to a can of corn...scarry!
