 Drill Sergeants...leaving board
Author: Donna
Date:   09-08-03 09:39

I am leaving the board, sorry to say. No, this is not a thread for attention, I am truly leaving and not looking back after this post. It just seems that the motivation here has changed for me. A lot of people have turned into drill sergeants in their ways to motivate (ex... get off you butt and do it now!) and honestly this does nothing for me motivational wise, it just pisses me off. If I wanted that I would have gone to military camp. I'm not trying to be rude or put anyone down as i'm sure this works for others, just not me. Things that move me are when someone goes that extra 3 steps on the treadmill, Spuds before and afters and when someone gets into those smaller size pants. BUT...it always seems that the drill sergeants come out in those posts too (ex...yay you did it!, not get off you butt and do more)....uggg. So again I mean not to offend anyone, just stating my opinion. I wish everyone well with their weight loss and am always rooting for everyone.

We will miss you Donna. I hope you keep the weight off and maybe you'll find a source of motivation and support somewhere else. I am sorry that you felt like you needed to leave the board. I have felt that way before myself and I even posted that I was going to leave. I am not sure what post offended you or made you feel like you do but I am sure that the person you are referring to never meant to be offensive. I should hope not anyway. Like I said, I was going to leave before myself, but I am very glad that I stayed. I hope you will reconsider. Take care and I hope you are always Blessed!! Hugs

Smiles, Renee :)

Donna,I think I know some of the posts you're referring to,but I don't think they meant any harm.Every one has a different way of doing things,I agree with you,I don't like being "told" to do anything.I think if we encourage instead of bully it's better, but maybe some don't see it that way,you just have to take it with a grain of salt. Hope you decide to stick around,we'll miss ya. :-)

Donna,

I will certainly miss you. Heck, who else but you likes old hispanic guys? I wish you would reconsider!

I certainly hope I was not part of your leaving. There have been many time when I have found you're posts so motivating!

Anyway, you're an adult and you're free to go your own way, but as I tell my daughters, you're always welcome back!

Best of luck Ab Queen!

I'll miss you!

Eric

......sorry to see you go, I don't think I ever posted in a negative way, but I'm sure those who did post like "drill sergeants" meant it in a helpful way, of course not everyone is motivated by that approach and that is fine,
some people might say they need a tough approach, but everyone is not motivated by the same methods and that is ok.
(I remember when I was in boot camp in the military that the tough motivation really helped me to get in shape back then, of course we all realized that the company commander was not trying to be mean but was just doing his job :-)

Perhaps it would be better to just ignore the posts with the motivation that doesn't help you and just focus on the posts that do, just a thought :-)
