Well I'm sooooooo excited to report this! I rely on the scale at the YMCA because I know it never gets moved and seriously doubt anyone ever messes with the calibration on it. I use it for my "official" weigh in each week. Now for the interesting part. My original weight was 350 last summer. I think the last time I went to the doctor the scale rested at 294 lbs. It was a relief to see it written in my chart as a weight under 300. Monday when I weighed in at the gym, the scale said 273 which was a 2 pound drop from friday. Yesterday at the doctor's office when she asked me to step on the scale I quickly slipped off my shoes and she started sliding the weights over I said "somewhere around 270". Well at 270 it slammed down, so she tapped it BACKWARDS to 268 where it balanced right in the middle!!!!
woooooohoooooooooo!!!! I was wishing I could do a back flip! I am not using 268 as my official weigh in weight because it is not my regular scale, but I am extremely excited to have that number written in my chart at the doctor's office.
Now, for the bad news... if you are still reading this far.... The reason for the doctor appointment is because I've been having chest pains for the last 3 to 4 weeks. I know that at my weight (especially previous weight) that I am at an increased risk for heart disease, so I am very nervous about that. The doctor said that I am a little too young for that to be the case, but we all know that it's not impossible.....
I had to go get an EKG at the hospital and will find out more about that on Thursday. Then she is gonna do some blood work and check my cholesteral too. The physician's assistant told me that she "thinks" it is a musculoskelatal pain I am having, but I disagree and won't let up until we find out for sure.

Way to go on the loss! And good luck - hope the chest pain turns out to be musculoskeletal, like the doc is thinking. Keep us all informed.

Congrats on the weight!
My HMO seems to think you can't have a heart attack before age 40, so when I had mine they diagnosed my chest pain as indigestion and sent me home with a prescription for Tagament.
Then my dentist diagnosed my jaw pain as an infection and sent me home with antibiotics and vicodin. I was still having a heart attack, but it was much more fun with the Vicodin.
Finally a second Doc saw me and knew right off what was happening (after a week of my heart deteriorating).
Stay on them!
On the other hand there have been many times when I thought I was having heart problems since then, that turned out to be over doing with a hedge trimmer or too many push-ups. Good luck! I hope that's the case with you!
Eric
I intend to live forever.....So far so good!
272/ /188 1.5 lbs. this week. I dare not say till the cast comes off

Melody,
I agree with Eric. You should stay on top of this situation. People are misdiagnosed all the time by their physicians afterall they do PRACTICE medicine. As consumers of healthcare, we must educate ourselves and then make healthcare choices that will be good for us.
