Yesterday on Dr. Phil they had the people from the weight loss challenge there. One woman, I don't know her name, she looked mabey mexican and had long black hair, (for those who do watch and know the people). Anyway, she said she lost seventy someodd pounds since the beginning of the challenge and Dr. Phil was mad at her! Okay, they've been doing this for 9 months, that's 36 weeks. On a steady loss of 2 pounds per week she should've lost 72 pounds. Dr. Phil yelled at her and said if she tried hard enough, she could've lost 144 pounds by now! That's 4 pounds per week! My goodness that man is hard on those people!
What do you all think?

I have been following the show but missed it yesterday. I would think 2 pounds a week would be great!! Although I like Dr. Phil and his attitude towards most things I don't think he should have been angry at someone for ONLY losing 2 pounds a week.
Can you imagine losing weight in front of millions of people watching your progress? Talk about pressure!! I think they have all done pretty good.
I think Dr. Phil's show on weight loss only emphasizes how difficult it is to lose weight. These people had every advantage possible to help them lose weight and the added pressure of all of us watching them and they still found it very hard to lose the weight.

Well since you asked...I think Dr. Phill is a quack, a moron and his morals are certainly questionable.
I've seen him on TV, I've seen his products on the store shelves and I've seen a biography about him on A&E or Discovery, one of those channels. I get less and less impressed with him the more I hear about him.
I think his products are a complete wate of money and a sham. He himself looks like he could stand to lose, I don't know, 30, 40 POUNDS (at least the last time I saw him on TV).
Larry North helped his family get in shape and then he completely blew Larry North off and was somehow rude to him later. I don't remeber the whole story.
I think for those that get some good out of him or his book - that's great but personally, I don't get it.
:)
Since you asked....

Dr. Phil is a psychologist, not a medical doctor, and while I think his weight loss program was good when it originally started out, now he's crossed the line. Instead of learning to use your mind to recognize your eating triggers and control your overeating, which is where he basically started out, now he seems to have moved to demanding people to be totally obsessive and demand unrealistic results from themselves. I didn't see the program, but if what you say is true, expecting someone to lose 4 pounds a week for nine months is just nuts, unless they weigh 500 pounds or something. I also read he's pushing supplements and special diet food--again, with no professional credentials to back up his endorsements (what does he do to check them out--psychoanalyze them?). He's still pretty entertaining, but when I need weight loss advice, I'll stick with my medical doctor.

Michelle is right--he looks like he could stand to lose a few himself.

I am not trying to stand up for him or anything but if you had personal trainers available to you at no cost, someone helping you with the nutritional part of the challange not to mention that you will be doing this in front of America, you might be able to loose more then 2 pounds a week. Most of them started extremely overwight and could easily have lost up to 5 pounds a week for the fist month or so because in the beginning the weight comes off faster. Now being able to keep up with that after the challange is over.. I don't know. I bet some of them will put a few pounds back on after it's all said and done.
I personally think they all have done great, but if I am going to loose weight in front of America I am going to bust my butt to look the best that I can so Dr. Phil doesn't yell at me!

I'm with BFL Michelle on this one. Can't even watch the show. But if it helps someone, that's great, but does nothing for me.
As for his products.....don't even get me started! ;)
