Hello All,
I am currently working out 3 times a week and have been doing so for a couple of months. Although, I have lost inches, my double chin is still there and such a nuisance to see. Is weight-loss the only way I will see a difference in the appearance of my face and neck? My muscles are becoming more defined also, but the double chin has got to go! I am about 20 lbs overweight and it shows more in the stomach area and my face. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
M.M.

I share your pain! I too have a double chin and it bothers the heck out of me. I think it makes me look fatter than I really am. I've lost 14 pounds and can see the fat melting off other parts of me, even some in my face, but not my chin/neck area. And yep, the only thing to make it go away is more weight loss. My goal weight is also 20 pounds away.

I'm not sure what to say about the double chins except for maybe at least you don't have triple chins? LOL.....just teasin!!! I have lost alot of weight in my face and my double chin is going away pretty quickly, BUT my belly isn't budging. My feet are smaller, my arms are toning up and I can feel muscles underneath all of this pain I am carrying around! I wish you both the best with your last 20 pounds...........hey, have you heard the Tim McGraw song My Next 30 Years? We could make up a song called My Last 20 Pounds! I know there are some poets on this site so see what you can come up with!

My double chin is gone but I think a lot of it has to do with neck shape and chin set. There's a very funny Canadian comedian who is very thin but has a very receding jaw .... and yes, a double chin.

I have the same problem still despite working out for almost 12 months. Damn frustrasting as it seems to add ten years to your age most of the time. I hate it. I tried doing neck firming exercises, but they didn't work so I have a feeling that it is something that is not going to disappear until I get down to goal and really lower bf%.

Thing that get's me is I see folks much more over weight than me but yet they don't "appear" to look so because of the fact they don't have the double chin and they don't carry it all in the thighs as I do. Completely confusing.

Here's a thought. A woman named Greer Childers has a face toning method that involves aerobic breathing. You could look into that.

I did see that a while back. I tried a few exercises whilst holding my breath at the same time for about ten seconds. It is a lot harder than you would think. Apparently the oxygen deficit challenges the muscles and it is almost like lifting a weight. I had face ache for days after just ten reps of trying to touch my nose with my bottom lip and holding my breath for a count of ten each rep...lol!
Guess I should stick with it! ;)

LOL... tried it with the eye brow lift exercise too, but that was not as difficult as the bottom lip touching the nose though... can you imagine the site. I would make sure no one was looking before I did them of course. Goodness knows what would happen if the wind changed whilst doing that workout... LOL!

Yeah. I know! It's harder than you'd think. HOnestly, I'm young enough right now, that I couldn't tell you if it worked or not, but I know rather round face looked much more proportioned and surprisingly lovely in my wedding photos. I'm not used to looking or feeling pretty, so that was a plus for me. I really want to get back into that breathing stuff because it was what kept me at a great weight and SHAPE for a long time.
Soo...IronBelle. do you have any new pics?

No new pics. I've been out for the count for a few weeks ill. Hospital trip at one point with severe lower abdominal pain and what I had been trated for as a UTI but turned out to be a bad case of endometritis. I was nil by mouth for the first day cos they didn't know what it was and had to wait till they could fit me in for a scan. They couldn' t find anything causing my pain but found infection from tests and the anti bacterial count in the blood was high. Also given my symptoms they put it down to that as a previous course of anti biotics had knocked out some bugs enough for me to know it was not a UTI. So they gave me extremely high doses of anti biotics. My abs have blown out like I am three months pregnant at the moment. Just finished the anti biotics yesterday. Was on them two weeks but apparently the bacteria had a bit of a resistance so we had to try several types and in the last week I have been on two types together. Frightening... I feel heaps better now though. I had been seeing it all as some type of allergy up to that point but it must have been a low grade infection that flared up after I had anti biotics for a chest infection two months ago.

I am round faced also. Perhaps it has a lot to do with your face shape. I guess oval faces are more elongated and the skin does not sag as much?
My face is round and small and any excess weight shows. Not that it has ever been this bad....

its all fat loss in the end...your chin and neck area will only go when you drop body fat and we all know how to do that...in some people in may be the last thing to 'go' so to speak, but if you want it bad enough, you will get it.
