 Does water temp really matter?

I heard that if you drink ice cold water instead of room temp water you will burn an extra 50- 100 calories a day (if you're drinking around 8 glasses of water) because your body can't use cold water so it has to heat up the water, which causes it to burn calories. Does anybody know if this if true?

I did read that if you drink cold water your body as to warm it up and work a bit harder in doing so . As for the amount of calories for the day I don`t believe it`s that much considering that if you walk at a brisk pace for 10 minutes the average calories burned is about 80. I don`t think that warming water demands that much energy. I could be wrong. But I also read that while it`s o.k to drink iced cold water at certain times, you shouldn`t drink iced cold water after/during doing intense physical activities to avoid cramps.
