I don't get it. I got all these angry messages to my hotmail account from a member here regarding the advice I gave Elizabeth (the young student) claiming I was sending them directly to his/her email account. All I did was post on the board. Does the board copy some people on email? If so, can someone provide a tip for this anonymous individual as to how to turn OFF those emails?

When you post, below the textbox where you type and above the "Post" button there is a checkbox that says "Email replies to this thread, to the address above".
When you check this box, every time someone replies to the thread where you participate, you'll receive an e-mail notification that says something like "someone replied to your message. click here to go to the board"
If you don't check that checkbox, you won't receive e-mail notifications.

I replied to "Elizabeth" who was a young student asking about her summer vacation. When you replied previously you must have checked the box that says "Email replies to this thread, to the address above." Therefore your email box got copied on all of the messages, including the one I wrote to Elizabeth.
You then took it as a message to YOU when I told Elizabeth, the healthy student, to "get out and do something." You then took it as though I were advising you, gillian4fun to get out and do something.
I hope that clears up the misunderstanding for you. In the future, be remember that by checking the box at the bottom of your message, you ask the system to email you ALL of the replies to a thread - whether or not they're directed at you. Don't take them personally because the reply may have nothing to do with you at all.
