I posted that my son had fallen on my foot and injured my toe??? Well, I took a week off of the gym, and then after about 3 weeks it was not hurting as bad, I figured it was just sprained (and there's nothing you can do about that anyway) so I didn't go to the doctor.
Well, the last couple of weeks, the pain has been getting worse, and worse and WORSE!! So this morning I call the foot doctor and made an appointment for this afternoon. He looked at and then said "You broke your toe. I bet you a dollar that you broke your toe." They did an X-ray and sure enough, it's broken. There is a piece of bone broken off at the joint and is sitting in between the toe bones IN THE JOINT!!!! So, the course of action now is .... splinted (wrapped) toe and in a immobilizer shoe for 3 weeks then another X-ray. If the toe has not healed, he will need to do surgery and remove the chip of bone out of my toe joint!!!!!
ugh......................

Sorry to hear that Melody. If you're still concerned about getting some gym time in, don't fret. There are lots of home-workout exercises you can do (requiring no equpitment) which will elimiate any use of your 'bad toe'.
I've often been in the same situation as you. We all too often pass over things that may be more serious than they really are, because either there is no initial pain or we believe that the incidient that caused the problem wasn't significant enough to merit minor damage. I once went around for over a month with a very badly fractured wrist and though I knew something was wrong, half of me was whispering 'just a muscle ache, it will heal'.
Yours,
D
