I'm going to apologize ahead of time to those of you who will think this is a post motivated by laziness(sp?). Honestly, I've gone around and around and tried to plan and plan and right now I just need help. I'm not good at asking for help, so I consider this a major feat.
What I'm wanting to know is...
Would any of you have an example of what could be a typical 1200 calorie-a-day menu? It would need to be no convenience diet foods. In the meantime I'll keep trying to read, but I'm so tired from working my brain has been mush for weeks and I can see myself giving up and inhaling a whole pizza. Honestly, I think this is a grasp of desperation for a thread to hang onto...(no pun intended:)). Thanks so much, guys and gals.
Back on the track and running like mad,
Heather

I'm new at this so I don't have much experience to share, but I just wanted to say hang in there Heather!
Actually I can think of something... I read an article in the paper in the weekend about the Calorie Reduction Society and their belief that eating fewer calories lengthens your life. I visited their website and it had some recipes.
http://www.calorierestriction.org
I think it sounds a bit too radical for me!
All the best,
Janey

You could start by eating what you are eating now and limit that to 1200 calories a day. It would be a beginning. Once you see how much food that is you can adjust your diet to include more healthy, low calorie foods.
A slice of pizza is around 400 calories and on a 1200 calorie a day diet you would only be able to eat three slices of pizza for the entire days calories. Instead of giving up pizza all together (this never works) you might begin to eat less and make better choices.

Let me get some sleep then I'll see if I can cut and paste a good day from fitday.com for ya.
You could also try putting '1200 calorie diet' in a search engine. Might work.
Welcome back by the way!

Here's one day with which I'm very happy.
Two shakes, each with 13 gm soy protein powder, one cup of strawberries once and peaches the next, a tablespoon of flaxseed and ice water. One shake for breakfast and one for an evening snack.
4 oz ft free Yogurt and 1/2 cup golean cereal
a whole can of tuna with low fat miracle whip and chopped veggies
rice chips and 1 cup of blueberries
supper was chicken breast and salad (romaine, carrots, celery, cucumber and zucchini)with light done right Italian dressing
I believe I nibbled on the rice chips (30 gms) throughout the day and must have had yogurt and golean more than once because fitday.com says 8 oz of yogurt and 1.25 cups of golean.
That'd be about .....1400 cals.
So, if you had less than 10oz of chicken ;) and skipped some of the golean, you'd be about 1200 cals.
