Did you ever notice the OVERABUNDANCE of food available at sporting events, movies, fairs, etc?
I took my kids to the circus yesterday. It was a 2 1/2 hour event. You cannot tell me anyone would starve to death in 2 1/2 hours, but you would think so based on the amount of food being sold!! Not to mention, THE AMOUNT OF FAT/SUGAR in the items being sold!! I went to the circus to see the performances - NOT to eat.
It's even worse at a fair. I swear, there are MORE food stands than attractions/rides!! Other than high-priced diet soda or bottled water, there are no healthy choices.
The same goes for family get-togethers. Why is it that there is ALWAYS so much food? And we all feel like we JUST HAVE to eat when we're together? We got together to visit, not to eat - RIGHT?
It's funny how it took me 2 1/2 years go lose weight, and this same amount of time to notice these things. Has anyone else noticed it too?

Nothin' like it, lol.
I agree, though, there's food everywhere. Hot dogs, ice cream, cotton candy, french fries, funnel cakes, donuts, pizza, sausages, just about every food under the sun is at a fair.
I took my son to our state fair over the summer and I actually managed to make it through the whole day only eating one ear of roasted corn on the cob and a plain hamburger. I told myself before I got there that I was NOT going to go through the place like a human vacuum and eat everything in sight because I'd only kick myself in the butt for it later. And I hate that dirty, 'poisoned' feeling I have after eating high-fat foods. I'd rather be hungry than go through that.

Yep...they complain about America being such a "fat" country but then try to make us gain 10 lbs. at special events!! *LOL* I just learned to control myself. Do they even let you take your own food/drinks in places like that? Or do you have to buy it from there?? It's been so long, I can't even remember.

I'm not sure, I've never tried to take my own foods in. I don't imagine they could do much about it if you're carrying it in a bag or something.
Not everything is horribly bad, though. But who wants to go to a fair and eat a salad?
lol

They're just as bad...
... But the AMC theatre I go to lets you carry in your own food and drinks if you want to.
LOL... nothing like a Diet Dr. Pepper and some Wheat Thins to accompany the latest release. : P

I haven't been to a movie theater in years. Too expensive. I wait till it comes out on DVD, lol.

at our local fair the teachers' booth has started to make baked potatoes and this year had something called a 'happy apple' which is basically a regular apple with carmel, peanuts, and whipped cream. That's about the heathiest we've had... and of course it was overpriced...
As for family get togethers... I was joking around with my roommate the other day (she's Muslim and Ramadon (fasting for a month) has just started) that on our holidays we pig out... and on Muslim holidays they don't eat... I just thought it was a weird coincidence...
Freshman 15 didn't happen til summer break. Now I'm down to my weight when I was a freshman in high school. Junior High here I come.

I can't understand why anyone can't go to these events and NOT eat? Is anyone going to starve to death if they go to a movie theater and see a 2 hour movie? I guess that's my point - why even bother to offer food for people when it's only going to be 2 hours?
CASH - that's it!

LOL... and then there's people like me who aren't about to blow 20 bucks at the concession stand ANYWHERE no matter what the event. I think to myself that it's a waste of money long before I ever think of what the extra calories my do to damage my weight loss.
