Thought I would post my WATP experience that I just got done having.
After 25 minutes of my time trying to open the darn DVD packaging I finally was able to open the box to find...noting but a cd inside. I was hoping to find a little booklet explaing things but nope. So then I took about an hour convincing myself that this would burn more calories than my aerobics, according to fit day walking burns less so I was not looking forward to it. I made sure I put on a big comfy sweatshirt over my exercise clothes because I was sure I wasn't going to work up a sweat then got to it.
The first mile was actually ok, it got my heart rate up a little and I did have to take the sweatshirt off, by the end of mile 2 I was sweating like I never did with the Richard Simmons DVD, I couldn't believe it. I was panting and ready to call it quits but kept pushing on. During mile 3 I sweated a bit more but the tone in the video was going down which bothered me.....I wanted to sweat more. Then came mile 4, what a disapointment! It was slower moving than mile 1 but I went through the motions and felt I got a great workout nonetheless. The cool down/stretches was riduculous, 5 minutes total of the same pose, so I popped in my Richard and did his crunches with cool down. The only thing that really bothered me about WATP is that there is hardly and arm movements, so I just added my own and it really helped kick things up a notch. Would I reccomend WATP to anyone...definately! It keeps your energy up and you can always spice it up when it gets slow and Leslie talks about different muscle groups, calories ect.... and you are so into what she is saying that you don't realize how hard you are walking or how far you've gone. Mile 2 passed in the blink of n eye. I can't wait to do it again tomorrow with more oomph!

ST,
That 3-mile is a REAL WORKOUT in relation to the 2 mile. Strip down, keep a bottle of water nearby, and put 911 on speed dial, cause you're going to sweat.
Donna,
As I said before, I too keep the intensity up during the last 10-15 minutes of Leslie's yacking. I also make sure I pick my feet up as high as I can. If you want to ramp it up, suggest you take a couple 1 or 2-lb handweights along for the ride (I don't, cause I'm just happy to get through the motions). PS: How about that 72 year old guy that does the exercises? I must be getting old, because he looks to be a hottie!

Kewl!! Sounds like a good investment. I'm going to guess that WATP stands for "walk away the pounds"? Is this a new thing? I've not heard of it until just recently.
Cheers,
Luna :)

No it's not new, has been around for a few years. There are several different types: A Christian-inspired video; Series of 1-2-3 miles using weighted balls; or waist strap with tubing for upper body; or stretchie. Then there is the 4-mile walk with no equipment. Check out Amazon.com (advert to the right usually has some of her tapes on it) and read the comments from the users.
I like them (I used the set with the weights and the 4-miles) because I am aerobically-challenged and because the movements don't pound my ancient joints into dust--better still, I don't have to go outside in the rain, snow, sleet or gloom of night to get in my carido. AND I work up a sweat.
