Did anyone else get this email from LifetimeTV?

Ok, I know the guys think Lifetime is the "man hater channel" or as my boyfriend puts it "the women in trauma channel" but I just got a weekly email from them with an interview they did with Rosa Blasi from the show Strong Medicine.

So as to not bore you with the details, she *claims* to be a size 2!! Yeah right, if she's a size 2 then I'm...oh heck, I can't even think of a good rebuttal for that! If I had to guess, I would have said she was a size 8 at least! Arrgghhh...now I really can't wait to get to the gym after work!!

I didn't get the email, but I don't know what's up with sizes. I went to Lerner's yesterday and had to buy a pair of size 4 shorts. I am usually a size 6, some 8s. I believe all clothiers are making clothes larger to appease the public.

As I gained weight over the years, I had myself convinced that I wasn't really getting fat.

"Those clothes manufacturers are marking the sizes up on smaller garments to save on the materials cost!" That's what I thought.

It's really a very interesting subject, sizing. I am a seamstress very interested in vintage styles. In my searches of old patterns and such I'm finding that the typical size 14/16 in the 40's has a bust measurement of 34/36, a waist of 24, and hips of 34. Right. Whatever. That isn't even close ot what it is now. Especially that waist measurement. 34/24/34 is now considered a size 6/8.

That is realaly interesting b/c people always say Marilynn Monroe was a size 14, but if the sizing difference is true then she was really a 6/8 which throw that theory out the door
