My friend is going to have surgery to lose weight and Now I feel so jealous. She is going to be walking around showing off her slim body and I'm to be feeling sorry for myself because I have tried to lose weight and can't and can't affort surgery. And now I feel bad because I jealous.
I feel worthless and feel its useless even to try anymore.

If you don't like what you are feeling...change your thought.
As we think, so shall we be.

Susan,
I wouldn't get too depressed just yet. I recently read an article where 2 people died in the last month from the gastric bypass surgery. The doctors did the same procedure that Al Roker got, and both died roughly a week later! You can see the article at www.slimatlanta.com if you are interested.

just think how gutless she is and how strong you are
it takes no courage to get it cut off...but more to work it off...
and u will be healthier than her any way
she will prob gain it back because her eating habits will remain the same
i dont blame you for feeling jealous but just remind urself how much courage you have.....and keep positive..dont give up

I understand why you are feeling depressed but do not give up. Think of it as a challenge and just remember for each step you take it is a step toward your goal. There are so mant cons to the surgery and so many plusses to dieting right. Soon you will be showing off your great body and you will know you deserved it so keep up the good work and know that we are here for you.

Are you and your friend really close? Maybe you can excersise together. I know people who have surgery have to excersise. And maybe she can give you nutrition information tips as I'm sure she will be consulting a nutritionist. Try to think of all the helpful info you can gain from her experiance. And the two of you can lose it together. Sure she might lose it faster (you just might score some cute clothes out of the deal), but the main thing is the end result and it sounds as if you could both be an encouragment to each other. I know for myself it has been so helpful that my best friend has been changing her lifestyle and getting healthier with me. She has been a great encouragement to me and I hope I have been to her also. It's nice to have someone to share the trials and milestones with who is going thru the same thing at the same time.
