Just a quick question. How do you decide when the weight you've lost is actually gone? For example, if I lost one pound according to the scale(weighing myself at the same time a week later), how do I assume that it's not water weight? What makes you decide that, yes this is a real loss? I just find that my weight can fluctuate by at least a couple pounds and I just don't know when I've actually made progress.

Oh, and also, how often do you weigh yourself? Once a week? Do you have an official time/ scale?
Thanks!!

I guess it is hard to determine with a one pound loss whether it was water or weight...........if you continue to lose a pound a week then that would surely be actual weight.
I used to weigh every single day that I went to the gym. I don't anymore because it is soooooooooo frustrating! I am weighing once every 2 weeks now. Better for my morale!
I wish you much success!!

I agree with Sassy for the weekly loss,if you are losing every week, then I'd say you are really losing it.I weigh once a week, but every two weeks is good too.I would never want to get on the scale every day,too much fluctuation(sp?). Good luck!!

My weight fluctuates daily as well. I officially weigh on the same scale every Tuesday morning after the same routine (I even drink the exact same drinks before weighing in the exact same amounts). But my weight fluctuates somewhere around 24 lbs. less than it did four months ago.
I intend to live forever.....So far so good!
272/ /188 1.5 lbs. this week. I dare not say till the cast comes off

I weigh myself everyday. But I officially weigh myself every Friday morning and record my weight in a spreadsheet.
If you can get used to the fluctuations I think it is better to weigh yourself everyday. That way you can have a running average which makes it easier to tell if you are really losing weight.

I've just started my weight loss plan (diet + weight lifting + cardio) and I weigh myself daily. You are correct there is a lot of fluctuation, but if you calculate the trends and plot your progress it is very helpful.
I've attached a picture that shows my weight loss progress, and if you look at the chart and the moving average, you can see that I'm losing... You can tell that most of my weight loss was water at the beginning :)
If you would like a copy of this spreadsheet, just e-mail me :)
