Hi! all,
Well, I decided to JUST TRY to STICK and STAY at 114 for now since the Holiday's are just here. Basically I am having a hard time not eating. Halloween was hard and STILL hard, since alot of candies in my house. TOM is around the corner and know that I will want CHOCOLATE or anything SWEETS. Thanksgiving is coming...more food. And of course, CHRISTMAS. I will still continue to work out and do my 4 miles (6 days a week)and try to not go over 2000 calories because I am totally scared of gaining anything since I work my butt off, taking off 16 pounds. I sure do NOT WANT IT BACK. So for now, will concentrate making sure the scale will stay at 114 pounds...if I lose a pound, I will be happy but my goal is to maintain. You all take care.
Anybody else going to try to maintain their weight for now since the holidays are coming??

I will still try to lose. The holidays aren't a big eating event in my extended family because of all the health problems, so the worst holiday for me is already over.....Halloween. The candy's everywhere, so I must be careful. I didn't try to lose much the last week or two, as I knew the candy monster would hit. But I'm ready to get back on the bandwagon. I've had my candy gorge yesterday, and am already sick of it! Woke up this morning with no weight gain for the week, so I am ecstatic (no loss either).
I will probably host Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the foods will fall in line with what I like to eat. I'll still cook mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, but the rest of the extras will not be there. We'll have vegetables and salads, but not the cookies and cakes.

I decided last week to maintain til January. So far, so good. I know that Christmas in particular is a bad time of year eating-wise for me, so I'll have to be extra vigilant then. But my main reason for choosing to spend some time working on maintaining was because I needed a mental break from "dieting" and the pressure I put on myself to lose the last 10!

I'm planning to continue on my program throughout the holiday season (daily exercise and remove 1 pound per week goal).
I am, however, going to have Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years meals with all the trimmings and select a few "must have" treats and eat them in moderation (Cella Dark Chocolate Covered Liquid Cherries here I come!).
This will be the first holiday season that I test my mettle of my new and improved lifestyle and if I make it to the New Year without GAINING any weight and continuing to exercise, I will consider it a success and feel I will no longer fear the holiday season. If I fail, I will have "lessons learned" to look back on and learn from. I've got to look beyond "eating" as one of the main focuses of the holidays. I'll probably step up my donations to organizations who provide food for those in need, instead of over-indulging in food as I have in the past.
I had a "touch and go" moment during Halloween when I fondled bags of Kit-Kats on sale for $1.50 at Target. I spent a good 1/2 hour reading the nutrition information on the back of just about every kind of candy trying to convince myself that it was no "bargain" after all. I ended up popping a piece of gum in my mouth and walking out the door. In my previous life I would have had about 4 or 5 bags of candy and it would be gone in a matter of days.
Yesterday, I found myself walking down the Christmas candy isle at Walmart eyeballing all my old seasonal "friends" that I would eat non-stop during the holidays. It's a TOUGH time of year to be cutting back on junk food; but I'm going to at least give it a damn good try.

.......that was using wisdom in making it an automatic thing to read the nutrition labels for the "calories per serving" because when you are serious about losing weight those "calories per serving" amounts can really be a big help when you need help in overcoming those cravings !
......a week from now you will feel so much better for NOT eating those bags of candy than if you gave in !
You get a gold star for that victory in overcoming an old bad eating habit !
(I used to have a problem with potato chips before I started my weight loss efforts, but in the grocery store all I have to do is to look at the label and see all calories in a bag of chips and it is a lot easier to say no thanks :-)
(those labels can be a big help to those who are "maintaining" also !)
