 Damn the cold...full steam ahead!

I've been hiding out inside for the last week or so, because we've been experiencing a cold snap here. Finally, yesterday I couldn't take it anymore, bundled myself up to the eyeballs and braved the minus 30 degree windchills (that's Celcius, folks) to get out and get some fresh air. Same today. And you know what? I feel like a million bucks! To all of you out there in great white north, I say, get out and enjoy that crisp, cold January day. There is nothing in this world like the bright sun just sparkling off the bright white snow. Plus, there is no feeling, and I mean none, like the one you get when you finally bring your frozen body back inside your cozy house to warm up. Total heaven.

Just wanted to share.

I have no idea how you feel, It's bright and sunny here in California. haha!! Sorry to rub that in. Actually, I had trouble sleeping last night because I was too hot. My house was 72 degrees (F). I hadn't had the heater on all day eighter, I guess we just got a spurt of warm weather. But this morning when I woke up, It was freezing in my house, 64 and I didn't want to get out of bed.

Hee, hee, I just had to laugh at this! I live in California too, was born here, and I know what you mean when you said you were freezing when it got down to 64 degrees! I was reading Freddie's post and thinking how great he sounded, but at the same time thinking ... BRRRRRR!!!! I start shivering and complaining when the temperature drops below 68.

You are way better than I am b/c I'm not going out in the cold. What's even worst, I'm in the south and we do nearly have the cold weather that the north has. Today it is suppose to get up to 50 something and I'm still not going out. I do, however, have an elliptical and weight bench at home and a bunch of exercise tapes so it's no problem in staying active.

I'm trying to train for a 5K run the first weekend of April, but have been relagated to the treadmill. It's not just the cold (though we've had highs only around 15 Farenheit) but also all the snow and ice! It's hard to run in all that! I just can't waite for the temp to get to at least 40 so I can make it down the street! In the mean time, my labrador Humphrey and I are making snow angels - he loves snow! :)

Maybe we should try cross country skiing to work?

Hi Freddie
About 9 years ago my family and I moved from Eastern Canada to Western Canada and I tell you we can play outdoors all winter long. My daughters play soccer all year round. We get alot rain in the winter but that doesn't stop me from walking or running almost everyday. Sometimes I forget how cold it can get elsewhere in Canada. This isn't bragging but remembering what it was like nine years ago. I do miss a bright day of sun and a fresh blanket of snow (not often)
