I'm trying to lose weight (why else would I be here) and I am trying to figure out how many calories I need to eat each day. I had 1451 today and was full after my meals. I was just wondering if 1200 a day is too low? I think I'm going to try to aim for 1200-1300 a day. Does that sound okay at the beginning? If I feel like I'm not getting enough, I can move it up to 1300-1400. I guess I just need reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. Still haven't made it to the gym (I had waaay too much government homework last night), but I will go tomorrow morning. My classes don't start until 10:00 in the morning, so I have plenty of time.

It sounds fine to me. I was doing 1200 cals for almost a year now and have been fine with it. If you are used to a lot more though you might want to go down in steps. I just did it and my body kind of went onto shock, I was weak, dizzy and a horrible person until I got used to it. Best of luck to you.

There is a calorie calculator at www.praticalweightloss.com and at www.bodyforlife.com, click on training in the left side red box. Those are just two I know of. You enter your current weight and some ask for age and acticity level. Then you subtract 500 from the number it gives you to lose one pound a week. 1200 is about as low as a women should go and I've done it before without any problems.
