DIET UPDATE (lose up to 52 lbs in 2.5 months)

Hey everyone,

Just doing my Monday morning check in. Let's see.... I think I've lost another 1/2 an inch on my hips and waist (don't know how many pounds) and I've lost inches on my legs too. My clothes are fitting differently... looser in different areas.

As for the diet itself, well today is day #12 for me, so tomorrow and Wednesday are my days off. I feel great, and I had very few cravings for carbs. I did break down a bit though, I had one chocolate from an entire box and I had two ritz crackers with nutella last night.... it wasn't because I was craving them though... it's because my boyfriend was munching and they just smelled so darn good :P

As for exercise, I did a total of 7 hrs of hockey between Saturday and Sunday -- I even got a goal and one assist!! :)

I plan to start doing my morning regime again.... light weights with stretching and cardio. Plus I need to renew my gym membership so that I can go for a 20 min run over my lunch break. Also, my mom and dad have begun this diet. My mom is 5'2" and about 275 lbs. Her doctor has said that she really needs to lose weight, but her biggest obstacle was that she had no energy. I told her about this diet and she's been on it for a week now. My dad phoned to tell me that she's gone mad :P -- she's got so much energy she doesn't know what to do with it, and she's lost 2 inches on her waist so far!!! I was really happy to hear that. She also says that she feels so much better. I'm glad it's working for her. Maybe now she'll be able to start a light aerobics class with her new burst of energy and really start to lose weight and get healthier. My dad has also tried it. He only has about 20 lbs to lose, but he said he's feeling so much more energetic. Anyway, that's my update for now :))

Thank you to everyone for your support, feedback, suggestions and comments :))

I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE YOUR DIET A TRY... I CURRENTLY WEIGHT ABOUT 235 AND WANT TO GET TO 155 - 160 BY JUNE... PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION.

THANK YOU AND CONTINUE DROPPING.

It has been posted on this site, but if you can't find it, send me an email and I"ll send the diet to you. Also, please consult your doctor before starting this diet... or any diet for that matter, especially if you're on any kind of medication.

Thanks :))

Luna when you first started how did you go about it?
When I saw your pic's you could have passed 4 my twin.
What waz your exerz. plan?
Where you already doing some workouts before you started?
Also I hate grapefruit so I dont know what to do about that!

Thanks for any input.

LOL That's ok.... I was thinking gee..... I don't recall posting pics..... maybe I sleep walk :P

Well, how did I get started. First, I got sick of looking and feeling horrible all the time. Then I decided to research why people gain weight....causes, cures, different approaches. I went to my doc and was diagnosed with a sugar intolerance/sensitivity... meaning that carbs are much worse for me than the average person. Once I knew that, I researched further to find out what to do about it. I got a book.... Body for Life by Bill Philips. He uses a low carb approach along with exercise 6 days a week and one day a week off for weight loss. I tried that and lost 42 lbs in 9 months. The food was a bit limiting.... but it was definitely well worth it and I"d recommend the program to anyone. Next I took a week break and just watched what I ate and continued exercising.... 20 mins cardio/day and weight training, alternating between lower and upper body 3-5 days/week. By the time Christmas 2002 rolled around, I had put on 12 lbs.... not because I went off the body for life plan, but because I had stopped exercising in Mid October due to a death in the family and some other personal issues and hadn't gone back to exercising by the time Christmas had rolled around.... besides which, with all the holiday goodies available, it made sticking to healthy eating pretty tough. In January 2003, I came across the grapefruit diet (that's what I'll call it, because I dont' know what it's actually called). I decided to give that a whirl 14 days ago, and I"ve lost 12 lbs. :))

I still exercise.... I play hocky for 2-5 hours about 4 days/week and I normally do cardio and weights, but I haven't been back to the gym since October... I need to renew my gym membership first. Plus I'm a part-time student so my studies are getting in the way a bit. Anyhoo, that's how I got started and that's where I'm at now. I have about 30-40 lbs to go and then I"ll be where I need and want to be. I'll keep ya posted, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask on this forum or you can email me.

I'm also building a website about my weight loss and I'm hoping it will be ready in about a week. I"ll post the link once it's completed. I plan to post some pics and related diet info and such. Hope this helps. :))
