Josie,
People on this board will give you all the support and encouragement you want to be healthy. For me, the key is to write down everything that I eat and to keep track of calories. Fitday (www.fitday.com) helps me to do that. I also try to exercise but do not do as much as some other people on the board (I work at least 50-60 hrs a week and am a mom and wife). But I do go to the gym 3x a week and take walks when the weather is nice.
People here are great and have alot of knowledge and experience to share
Good luck and welcome!
Sue

One of the best things I can suggest is to try... try... try...
I have been trying to lose weight since I was 15... never any success. I was even a member of this site a few years ago with no success. So I gave up (temporarily). The need to lose weight struck me again after my freshman year at college (I got the Freshman 15 AFTER I returned home for the summer)... And that's when I got it in my head that I needed to find a plan that worked... I knew what failed and I knew what I hadn't tried yet.... for me counting calories with Fitday really helps... and I also do everything in intervals... one week I increase intensity or add an excersize at the gym... then the next week I'll cut back on a certain food.... This plan has worked for me so far... and because I went slow I didn't get as frustrated or having the feeling of giving up because it was too hard....
your situation may be different... and you may have different obstacles... if something fails... don't give up all together... just go in a different direction... and don't plan on instant results... set mini goals for yourself instead of long term ones... to keep you motivated.... and have fun with it...
Good luck
Freshman 15 didn't happen til summer break. Now I'm down to my weight when I was a freshman in high school. Junior High here I come.
