Will doing crunches everyday flatten your stomache? Or will it have no effect. Also, they say that doing Yoga is very relaxing and it helps you lose fat, but that doesn't seem riht, because you have to exercise and get your heart rate up to lose weight, right? Maybe on top of exercises it would make you lose weight, but alone? I don't know!

crunches wont make your tummy flatter no...they may strengthen your abs and make the muscle grow, only a little bit not worth much noticing, but it wont dissolve the fat from the stomach....that is all cardio and diet.....your right about yoga...alone or not it is relaxing but it isnt cardio....if u want to relax a bit or for whatever reasons do yoga, but it isnt going to help you lose weight.

well apparently that is all Madonna does these days and she used to do weights and cardio, but now she only does yoga. I don't know if you have ever tried any of the postiions in yoga, but there are somethings that even I cannot do because I am not flexible enough or strong enough and I lift weights. Some exercises are using your own body weight and can be as effective as strength training to a certain level at the smaller weights. I have been looking into what I can do on my workout days around the christmas break when the gym is not open and looked at yoga and othe stuff. Maybe someone should do a thread about that such and post about exercises such as press ups an stuff as I am sure my gym is not going to be the only one closed on certain days and many people won't have dumbells at home.
Many body builders build the mucsle but they don't practise stretching exercises or lengthening the muscles and this give them a stiff look. Almost like they cannot bend at the waist lol! My Personal Trainer makes us start with stretching exercises and encourages us to finish up with them also as a cool down after weights. But a few other exercises like press ups would be handy to know about.

You must do cardio to burn the fat though. The exercises will just strnegthen muscle and load you with a better ability to do more...and after that you need to step up your cardio efforts and burn the fat as Gymachine says. I don;t really believe that madonna does not do cardio..but it was something I heard on Tv the other week..that she just does yoga. Maybe she is just very busy in her schdule and does a great deal of jumping around to go through rehearsals and this is like her cardio?
