Ok,
Well, as most of you are aware, I'm having problems losing weight despite a high level of activity. I've had bloodwork done and I'm awating the results. In the meantime, I've decided that I'll count my calories for a few days just to make sure I'm not really going over what I should be having.... I don't think I am, but it doesn't hurt to count. Problem is.... I have NO idea where to begin. I mean, I know that many foods list the calories/portion, but not all do. And for things like eggs... where would I get info on calories for whole food items? If anyone has any suggestions on where I could look up calorie information so that I can journal what I'm eating, I'd appreciate it.
Oh.... one more thing.... despite my negative pregnancy test, last night I was up at 2:42 am with like MEGA nausea..... I've hardly ever felt nausea like this.... now, it could be the flu or some kind of bug.... but it wasn't continuous.... I was fine in like 30 mins and went back to bed. Then, this morning, I was SOOOO tired... and cold.... everywhere I was bloody cold!!! I feel fine now though. I doubt I'm pregnant, but I was wondering.... what does morning sickness feel like? How long does it last??
All ur help is appreciated :))
Thanks all!! :))

To answer your question, I haven't found any problems finding calorie content for items. Even on the egg carton, you will find nutrional information. The only things I've been having problems getting nutritional information for is the foods sold at restuarants (eg. Chilis, IHOP, Black-eyed Pea). A majority of fast food restaurants even have their nutrional information on the internet. I am glad that you made the choice to count calories. I convince this girl at work to give it a try and she was shocked that she was consuming almost 2000 calories a day. Like you, she was trying to lose weight but wasn't have much success.
To answer your second question, for me morning sickness actually did involve nausea and a lot of vomitting. For me, it did not come and go. It was continuous throught my first trimester. No two ladies experiences will be alike. For instance, a friend of mine was not bothered with morning sickness whatsoever. However, my sister-in-law was bothered with it throughout her entire pregnancy. I even remember times when I smell different things (perfume, food cooking) it will cause me to vomit. I know sometimes I get nausea for no reason and having motion sickness doesn't make it any better. Could it be that you really want to become pregnant and you feel like this?

I have found myself, that if you REALLY pay attention to your hunger, then you don't need to count calories. Before you eat, really ask yourself if you are hungry. If you think you are, but aren't absolutely sure, wait 30 minutes, or eat something small. This works for me, but, for some, only counting calories works.

Good luck, Luna. This could well give you the answers, unless you do have an unusual medical condition. Here's a hint I found useful when I first started counting calories: make sure you count every single thing that goes in your mouth, including little snacks and nibbles, vegetables and fruit, other "healthy" food, condiments, drinks, etc. It's a pain, especially at first, but I was really surprised at the difference that made in my total, and it identified some of my problem areas. I hope this works for you.

So, if I want to make sure I"m not over eating calorie wise.... what is a good number??? I'm 185 lbs right now. I'm still trying to figure out how much I ACTUALLY consume daily, but what should my 'target' number of calories/day be to lose weight??
Thanks,
Luna

If you go to the home page of this site and click on "calorie calculators," you can enter your age, height, weight and activity level to get an estimate of how many calories you burn a day. There are a lot of other calculators out there, but this site is a good place to start. Also, you can go to caloriesperhour.com (one of my favorite sites) and add up your activities and calories burned for a 24 hour period, if you want to do a little more work and get a more personally tailored count. I've found that the estimate on both these sites are pretty accurate for me.
