Just wondering who here is still counting.
I counted my calories religously while I was in weight loss mode. It worked for me. I never had a plateau that I didn't cause or expect.
I guess I also want to make sure our board here sticks to the basics. Calories in versus calories out. Not saying it's not.
Even now while not trying to lose, I pretty much eat the same stuff I did before and I don't necessarily have to write it all down cause every day is pretty much the same. I do mentally add stuff up if I have a weird day.
Like today. I packed all my food and then left it sitting on the counter. We have a lady that comes in and sells sandwhiches and stuff, but I wouldn't be able to figure out the calories in most of it. So I bought two hard boiled eggs and a pear. That's roughly 250 calories. I'll have to get something else later, but I'll have to run over to Kroger next door.

I got really lazy and fell off the wagon for a few weeks. But I'm back to counting caloies just like I did before. After my lunch I'll be at an even 700 for the day : P
I like the basics. I like them better than carb cutting and fad diets and those very expensive but ineffective pills.
Mmm... boiled eggs are so good... sometimes with just the tinest bit of salt. : P

I do. I use fitday to record everything. I was doing about 1500 but I've cut it back to 1400.
I think when I get to goal and am finally maintaining, I won't be as adamant as I am now about recording everything, but I'll still watch what I eat and how much and just weigh myself every day to make sure I'm not gaining or losing too much.

Weight loss is all about the numbers and counting is the best way to keep me honest.

I am counting calories by using fitday and adding EVERYTHING I eat - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Last week my average was 1415 calories a day. Not as good as I had hoped but it is a visual way to see how much I am eating and what percentage of fats, carbs and protein I eat.
I know that this number will have to go down in order for me to lose weight and my choices need to be better ones. I think the ultimate goal would be to know how much food I should eat in a day and be able to control my eating enough to not have to count calories. But...................for now, counting calories seems to be the best way to limit how much I eat.

If I don't count calories, I can't lose weight..I need to be organized in my weight loss or in just won't come off as well. I'm usually between 1400-1600 a day
