I was 126 pounds and now I am 130 pounds and height is 5' 2". Can anyone suggest me some weight loss prog. I walk 4 miles a day, otherwise my lifestyle is sedentary. I eat three meals a day and sometimes a snack in the evening.Pls help me to shed at least 10 pounds.

Yes, weight gain is a known side effect of birth control pills. You can mention to your doctor that you are gaining weight after you started taking the pill - maybe he can switch you to a different birth control brand with lower hormone dose.
Walking 4 miles a day is very very good - most people don't walk nearly as much... The majority of people just walk across the parking lot to get to their car - and that's all walking they do for the day :-)
You can try doing aerobics several times a week - this burns a lot of calories. See if you can join aerobics class, or get a video and try to follow it by yourself.
Also, one easy way to cut some calories without feeling hungry is to drink water instead of soft drinks. A can of soda has about 150 calories, and water 0 calories... so if you drink water instead of 2 cans of soda a day, you'll save 300 calories!
Also, try to avoid restaurants. Prepare your meals at home, so you can control what goes in there... Avoid junk foods and high fat foods. Do not fry your food in oil - try to use baking, steaming and boiling as your main cooking methods. Eat smaller portions.
If you incorporate even some of these changes into your lifestyle, you can definately lose those 10 pounds. Just remember that weight loss is a gradual process, and you need to be persistent and don't get discouraged if you don't start losing weight right away.
Best regards,
Melanie

Weight loss pills and stuff like Herbalife do not work for permanent loss of FAT (some can create an illusion of weight loss, but the person is losing just water, not fat) and can be dangerous to your health. The only way to lose weight safely and permanently is by following a healthy diet and increasing the activity level.
All those manufacturers of diet drugs/pills/shakes/supplements are making tons of money by making false promises of "easy weight loss", and playing on the emotions of people who are desperate to lose weight.
If something is classified as a "herb" and not a "drug", it does not mean it is safe. "Herbs" are not regulated by the FDA as tightely as substances classified as drugs, but those herbs cause bad side effects in many people - there were even incindents of people dying from them.
You can read an article explaining weight loss drugs here:

Also, here's some info on this topic in this earlier discussion thread: http://www.practicalweightloss.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=9&t=8
and on Herbalife http://www.practicalweightloss.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=42&t=30
Best regards,
Melanie

I really have no idea on what you are talking about on your idea of Herbalife not being safe or effective! I have spoken to the Medical Board with their company numerous times and they are FDA regulated through the government as a FOOD not a DRUG. They have never had ANY problems with people Dying or even having an adverse reaction to the products. They promote good health and exercising moderately. As a result I have had no dizzy feelings and I feel fantastic. My body is finally getting the vitamins and nutrients that I need through these products and the answer to my weight loss problems are finally solved by taking Herbalife!
By the way- If Herbalife was rated so low in your book, than why are they advertising with United Airlines, Martha Stewart magazine and one of the Doctors that they work with was in the top 10 MD's world wide through the Harvard Institute?

I lost 26 pounds in my first 2 months and I have now lost 53 pounds in just over 3 1/2 months. ( I can even say now, that I cheated and still lost weight with no exercise!) Losing weight with Herbalife is the easiest thing I have ever done, the support system is also incredible. They give you the motivation you need to keep going.
For you, it shouldn't take more than 1 month to lose 10-15 pounds. You will also feel incredible.
Hope this helps!!

You can do it easily as well. I got on the scale today and lost another 4 pounds over the past week and 3 1/4 inches. Get the products, take them consistantly and you'll lose weight even if you don't exercise! The lady that works with me is awesome. She will get your measurments and your weight and make sure that you are doing well. It is that easy. There are also many different recipe ideas that you can use on the sight www.dare2beslim.com that will keep you from getting bored. They also have a great explanation of the products there too! The main thing with taking the products is stay focused!
Hope this helps :)

If something is advertized everywhere - it does not mean it's any good... Those who PAY $$$ receive ad space...

Water retention is also a side effect of contraceptive pills, this can make you look slightly bloated and weigh more.
I use Water balance pills which just help your body regulate water retention, there are quite a few brands out there and I think they're all pretty much the same.

That's a good point! I didn't think about that and neither my doctor. I told that I am gaining weight and she said alright..if you want to discontinue..u go ahead.
Are these water balance pills over the counter or by prescription?

They're over the counter pills and as far as I know they're herbal.
I would think you could go into any herbal remedy type store and ask at the couter if they have any water/fluid balance tablets.
