Confused on this whole "frame size" thing!

Ok, I'm confused about my frame size. When I place my middle finger and thumb around the opposite wrist, they touch, almost overlap BUT I have NEVER thought of myself as small-framed because I wear a size 8 shoe and my shoulders are broader than *most* women I know. Am I doing this wrong or am I just wishful thinking so I can up my ideal weight number ;)?

If they just touch, then you are a medium frame. I obviously can't see what you mean by almost overlap, but I think almost doesn't count? There is also another measurement you can use and that's your elbow bone. When I do that one I am small frame, but with the wrist thing, I'm medium which is also what my doctor says. Doc also said my ideal weight is 105 which is what comes up in the weight calculator on this site when I use medium frame size.

Hope that helps.

It has to be your thumb and your pointer finger, not the middle. If they almost overlap or noticibly touch then you are a small frame. If there is a small gap or they just barely touch then you are a medium but if there is a big gap you are a large.

Are you sure it's the pointer finger??? I've always read and heard it was the middle finger. If I use my pointer finger then I would be a large fram and I'm pretty petitie with small bones. I'm going to look for some clarification...

How to define your frame.

If you are left-handed, extend your right arm. If you are right-handed, extend your left arm.

With your free hand, wrap your thumb and middle finger (yes, the one that some people use in heavy traffic) and wrap those around your extended wrist. Be sure to wrap it around the SMALLEST section of your wrist - very close to where the old hand sticks out.

Small Frame

If your middle finger and thumb overlap, you have a small frame.

Medium Frame

If your middle finger and thumb touch, you have a medium frame.

Large Frame

If your middle finger and thumb do not meet, you have a large frame

I always thought it was suppose to be your pointer finger and thumb (I thought I was a medium frame - now I might be wrong)...now I am off to Ken's website he provided for us to check out. Thanks Ken.

A friend of mine suggested going to the Self magazine website to check for your ideal weight. I am medium framed and 5'5". It gave me a range of weights from 124 to 150 (if I remember correctly). Anyway, after I spent time looking at my BMI and health indicators, it came up with a screen that indicated that my ideal weight should be 134lbs, that's 9 lbs more than all other web sites say that my weight should be. I personally am likeing the Self site's goal. I can't imagine myself at 125. I would be sooooo skinny.

Ok, that's just something for you to ponder and one more thing to check out.

Oh, one last thing, somewhere I found a site that determines your frame size by the width of your elbow. That and my wrist stuff was the same, but it could be another thing to check out.

I don't really know either, I just want to say that I can sympathize with you, my fingers touch, which woiuld suggest medium, but my shoe size is 11 or 12!Doesn't seem like a medium to me...
