I was laid off February 20 of this year & I'm on the verge of finding a job. I am worried that when I go back to work, working out & eating healthy will be a problem. I'm the opposite of most people, I'm fine with eating right at home. I don't have much here that's "bad" and I only eat a designated times, heck I even like measuring my food (I'm kind of anal like that). When I'm working, the mere mention of Chinese or take-out and I dump my packed lunch to join the group.
Working out is so nice because I get out of the apartment & get to socialize with others. When I'm working I socialize all day and just want to come home & watch some TV and relax.
I could really use some tips to stay on track when I go back to the 8-5 working life. BTW, I'm 26, have a boyfriend of 6 1/2 years (we live together - wedding isn't to far off), have a 3 year old dog, & no kids (just to give you an idea of my life). I should have the energy to go to the gym after work but I just don't. Any ideas on this one would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mandy

I work 8-5 and I always try to work out before I come to work. (I also have a fitness center here at work so someitmes I come here to work out). I know I am very fortunate to have it.
I always pack my lunch and eat at my desk. I can see where you would have a problem at first. You don't want to come off as being unfriendly. I had a birthday lunch to go to the other day and I still went, but I had something light from the menu. Don't be afraid to ask for nutritional information from the resturant if you go. So, if you do go out to lunch, still try to eat low cal.
As far as after work and being active, I walk my dog (one is too old) and do yard work now that the weather is better. Since you live in an apartment you could take up container gardening. Lots and lots of plants to very well in containers even some veggies and all herbs.
If you have done your workout before work, then you would have to worry about staying too active after because it would be out of the way.
Hope this give you some ideas. Good luck on finding a job and I hope it all works out!! :)

Thanks for the tips, I did like working out in the morning getting up with the snow was hard but hopefully that's over!!
I was on the BFL web site today & decided to try it out. I printed some of the good foods & the 10 tips to put on the fridge. I think between working on that & this board I will stay on track. I love the before & after pictures. Why is it that when you loose weight you all the sudden get tan? LOL I guess you are more likely to hang out at the pool with the new body ;-))
Thanks again & I'll keep ya posted on my BFL journey!

I am so excited for you!!! Please keep me posted on your results! You will not fail if you follow the program! That's funny about the tanning. I've noticed that too. :)

Would you be able to work out in the mornings before work?
I used to work out after work and found more excuses not to go because of the same reason..i just want to go home and relax. When I started in the mornings, it was a little hard at first, but I find it is much better. I have more energy to go and do other things after work or if I go home, I get home early because I don't have to go to the gym.
I also ditch my bagged lunch at the mention of (especially chinese!!) going out for lunch. But most of the time, people around my office anyway, only go out to lunch once every week or every other week. If it is every once in a while, I don't feel so upset with myself....but if it was everyday that would be a problem. Also, I think about how much money I save when I dont go out to eat!!! Also, I get a REALLY good book that I don't want to put down, so then when lunch rolls around, I would rather read my book than go out with my coworkers for lunch.
Just things I have encountered.
Good luck.
You can do it!

If you go out to lunch make healthy choices. Almost every restrant has salads and vegtables, and if you do eat a bad lunch skip dessert and have veggies for dinner.
