I cant affored a personal trainer but I want to take being in shape seriously. When I say that I mean doing competitions. I really enjoy working out and this seems like something I would love to do. I just dont think I could get into that kind of shape on my own. I dont want to be muscular though just in good shape. If anyone has any suggestions or information on how to get started it would be very helpful. Thanks.

well i know there are some comps which look more toward the 'feminane look' rather than the muscled up chiseled women...i shouldnt say comps, i really mean judges i guess...local shows are the best way to start...i couldnt tell u about the shows themselves since im in australia, but i do know some women go to shows chiseled and rock hard expecting to win and come out loosers because thats not what there after...perhaps by the sound of it you want to fall in the catagory of 'sleek female' who isnt jacked up...for this i guess its research on your part as to what judges look for in different shows and work towards it.
As for getting in competition mode, it can be a full time job...eating amongst work outs have to be spot on...and sometimes u may compete against those who are on steroids too....theres alot of cardio involved prior to show dates for ultra lean looks too...hell theres alot involved and if you love it then yeah go for it!
