So, I had my first colonic today. It was very strange! I'm really becoming obsessed with detox and cleaning by body out. I am convinced it will help in losing weight as well as so many different things. Has anybody ever had one?
The one thing I experienced first hand though is how emotions are so connected to the body. I was really anxious before my session and it hit me.... I am emotionally attached to my sh-t! No pun intended. I really felt an uneasy feeling about getting rid of it. I sort of associated the feeling of emotional emptiness with being physically empty. Anyway, the point I'm tryng to make is that, I really see how weight works the same way. My spirtual counselor told me once that I am holding onto weight because it helps to ground me emotionally. Of couse I never saw it before, but now I see it. There is an unconscious desire to keep excess body weight for the same reason I wanted to hold onto my stuff today. Interesting huh?

Personally I would never get a colonic. Why would you forcefully and unnaturally rid your body of the product of a naturally occuring process? All the natural bacteria is fine in my body and I don't intend to wash it out with a process I find invasive!! I don't think it's that I'm emotionally attached to my contents, I just envision them as being healthy. Ha ha
But then again, whatever works for ya!! I don't mean for this to be a criticism (since that seems to be overworked lately!!!), just reacting!
Keeping mine until it goes on it's own,
Tara

I agree with Tara, let your body work for you, naturally. That's
why God gave us foods like greens and grains, that thing called
fiber.

i find detox's a scam...its impossible to flush EVERYTHING out of your body...all you doing is going in more or less of a famine mode for a few days...anyway each to their own, tolerence is key.

Okay..that was pretty discusting... I think we should keep our sh*t to ourselves..LOL
Only time I was cleaned out that good was when I had to have a colonoscopy and you had to have an enema and some nasty tasting stuff that really made you sh*t...
Not a fun feeling..

I used to feel the same way until I began researching about how toxins effect the body. I also have begun studying Ayurveda (a traditional eastern holistic approach to medicine which believes that all disease begins with a weak digestive track) and have been doing a lot of work on myself physically, emotionally and spiritually. Its sort of a collective effort to clean out the garbage!
p.s. I've also been constipated for most of my life!

I don't think detox is a scam, but I think it needs to be done smartly and in a balanced way. I have had a series of colonics (I can't believe I'm admitting this over the internet). Anyhoo, I got them at the beginning of my pregnancy to help alleviate moring sickness. It worked, sometimes almost immediately, and I figured having the other option be meds, I decided that colonics would probably be safer for my baby. I guess I would say this...DON'T STRAP YOUR BODY OF WHAT IT NEEDS. I can see it being done for extenuating circumstances like cancer or like my situation, but I really think that if you can make your body work in it's natural state, you should try. If youve been constipated your whole life, something else needs ot be looked at. Colonics aren't going to help you on a long-term basis. Try juicing and lots of spinach or something. just my two cents.
