I am writing in to see if any one can answer a question to ease my guilt.
I have read somewhere that eating chocolate really slows down your metabolic rate.... I like a little chocolate but i do not want to put all my hard training and calorie counting down the drain, i make sure i put the calories down in my daily amount so i am over my daily limit,God reading this back i sound really hard up. Please i would be so pleased if you could answer this or if anyone else has a problem like me, i dont crave it but i use it as a treat. Thanks and keep up the good work people..

Hi Ya,
I made a mistake on a post I made here recently, and said that I bought a 15 oz bar of dark chocolate at Trader Joe's every week, and made it last a whole week, and that I wasn't interested in any diet that wouldn't let me treat myself to -- and here I divided 15 ozs by 7 -- 2 ozs of chocolate a day! Anyway, since I only eat one square of the chocolate (each night after the kids are in bed), I got to thinking that 2 ozs a day sounded kind of heavy, so i went to the fridge (where I keep my little choc stash) and looked, and the bar of deliciously dark chocolate weighs 3.5 ozs, so I am eating 1/2 oz per day!!!! Even that 1/2 oz adds 77 calories per day, so it is a very good thating that I'm NOT eating 2 ozs!!! Anyway, I don't crave it either, Julie, but I use it as a treat, and I have resolved that I will not put any other candy into my mouth! I love cakes and cookies too (real sugar hound), but I have resolved not to eat any, and so that I won't feel deprived, I allow myself 1800 calories on Saturdays and Sundays (Monday through Friday I am eating 1500 calories a day.) That way, I can have an ice cream cone on Saturdays, and pancakes with my kids on Sunday morning, and that puts a smile on my face!!! As for that bit of chocolate each evening, well, I savour it on my tongue, and enjoy the treat! I eat a big salad every day, eat lots and lots of veggies, 3 servings of fruit every day, whole grain bread and whole grain cereal, and a little salmon, or white fish...good grub, and I've learned to like simple meals, but I don't feel inclined to give up that little bit of chocolate, or a couple of weekend treats, or the 35 calorie popsicle I sometimes eat when it's really hot in the house after dinner! I don't want to undo all the work i've put in to building a healthy lifestyle for myself, my hubby, and the kids, but there has to be a bit of culinary fun, or I won't eat all those veggies!!!!
Cheers,
Dee
