Hi all -

Been out of the loop since a little before Thanksgiving - and my goodness, I barely recognize anyone in here nowadays! But it seems like some of the newer ones around that time are doing good - Melody for instance...Congratulations!

So to sort of reintroduce myself - I'm Michelle, I'm 33 years old, 5'4" and have gone down from 165 lbs. (size 14-16) to 125 lbs. (size 6) from October 2001 to October 2002. I was and active member of this board from April 2002 until about late November. My journey started when my husband was diagnosed with diabetes, and as a show of support, I changed lifestyles with him. We joined the gym, totally revised our cooking and cut doen on the eating out. He is now 65-70 lbs. lighter (260 lbs. to 190-195 lbs., which at 6 feet is not bad) and has his blood sugar in very good control.

I was aiming for 120 lbs. by the end of last year, but with the holidays, I was just too happy not to have gained any. My husband, on the other hand gained an extra 10 lbs. by the 3rd week of December. This is despite continuing exercise of 4-5 days/week. So far he's lost 5 lbs. of the holiday weight (that's why I put his weight down as a 190 lbs. - his lowest weight- to 195 lbs. - his current weight). This experience really emphasized to us the importance of constant vigilance.

This year, I am aiming at getting myself down another 10 lbs. for a final maintenence weight of 115 lbs. I have no idea if I can get there, since I have never been that weight ever in my adult life. But I figure, that last ten lbs. could be the answer to those little pooches that remain in my lower belly and inner thighs.

There, I have made my goals known, so now I'm committed to it - for pride if not for anything else...LOL!

I miss the camaraderie in this boards (I wonder where GymMachine, Dee, leanbutt and Amanda disappeared to?) and I do not know why I neglected it for such a long time.

I went to the gym to pick up my tiny paycheck, and stepped on the scale in the locker room while I was there. Down another 2 lbs this week!

my total loss so far is 42 lbs

42 lbs wow that`s great!!!! Picture this if you will, that is 42 lbs is equivalent to 168 sticks of butter. Now picture yourself with 168 sticks of butter attached to your body....Then appreciate how far you have come :D G
