Hey, not dead. Things have been getting a bit hetic over here as you likely seen on the news, but we here in the plant I am at are doing just fine. i'm good except.
well I'm floating round where I was a month ago. I know the reason, well two of them.
First is my DDR disk got scratched up so I haven't been able to do my usual cardio till my new pad and disk gets here hopefully in a few more days. Add to that the heat reaches 110-130 in the day and it makes exercise a lower desire.
Second is bordom. Many people know that when you are overweight, one reason is eating for emotions. For me it's definately cause of boredom. What is worse is the MRE (Meal ready to eat..military rations that are better tasting that the food we get but higher calories and include things like peanut butter and crackers and pound cake) are being stored both in my work office and in my room! Gees why don't they just put an ice cream machine in my room and tease me that way. I've been trying and hopefully my boredom will ease up once I get some more things to do here.
My weight loss will happen. Just a high peak and eventually I will force myself back onto the down track.
btw..'very heavy and very vocal'....nice to see you haven't lost your people skills.
Signed,
'not as heavy but still vocal' Ken

Ken, I'm glad to hear from you. Keep your head down and stay cool. Even though you are not in a good situation for staying on the healthy path, you can still check in and encourage others. I think we would all forgive you if you just maintained for a little while. None of us are facing the tough situation that you are in. Again, I am very glad to hear you're ok.

I can't imagine trying to get healthy in your situation. You sound as though you are doing what you can under the circumstances. Don't be too hard on yourself. Stress and boredom are what got alot of us overeating in the first place. You are really up against major obstacles. Do your best to stay the course.
And, THANK YOU for your service to our country.

My goodness, I could never get fat on MRE's. I can't gag them down for the life of me!
My brother is in the Army and is over in Iraq. He had me try a few of them before he shipped out. They were so gross. I know that they're good for the soldiers and all, but man, I would rather eat rice cakes and broccoli any day!

Forgive me if I sounded rude. I just thought of those MRE's and had bad memories. : )
I'm new here, so I'm just curious...
What are you doing overseas? Are you in the military, or are you part of a company that has been contracted to work over there? Or something else?
Apparently you're a popular guy online! Everyone here seems to miss and respect you. I hope the best for you. Stay safe.

I am glad to hear that you are ok...keep up the good fight with your weight. You are not in a "normal" situation right now...so...cut yourself some slack right now.
The MOST important thing is that you stay safe...you can always pick up the "battle of the bulge" when you get home and are "safe" on American soil.
I want to thank you for your service. I can't even imagine doing what you are doing. I am too chicken. :)
Thanks again...and stay safe.
Check in when you have time.

They may not be fine dining but the miltary requires each MRE to contain a MINIMUM of 1200 Calories, about the same as a pint of Hageen-Daz ice cream. At that rate you would not have to eat many to cause a problem.

No, but my brother-in-law is a Marine (may be sent over soon:() and he says the MRE's are specifically formulated to be not only highly energized food, but also causes...um...er...hehe...how to say this delicately...your digestion to plug up for a good amount of time. As a Marine (or any other soldier), you don't want to have to worry about finding a place to go in the middle of battle. LOL
Here's another vote for rice cakes and broccoli...LOL
