Ok.
I came to the conclusion that my body doesn't like me doing the same diet for a long period of time...
So I was thinking of maybe doing a diet for a week or two and then switch it to another one... just so that my body wouldn't get too used to the same thing (and would keep me from getting bored with the same foods).
This came to me after I've realized my Grapefruit diet is not really helping... but I know it's good but my scales may be bad...
So what I thought of doing is this: do a diet until Saturday (when I get a new scale... :) ) and then start something else... and switch it every other week.
What do you think? Is it not healthy to change your diets so often? Personally I think it would help me.

This is just me thinking along with you, but I don't get the diet thing. With the exception of perhaps Atkins which deprives the body of its main source of fuel, all other schemes require a calorie deficit to cause weight loss. I just think it makes sense to eat regular foods (less than required) and help it along with exercise. I have never failed to lose doing this, and I really do not feel deprived. The key for me is to continue to eat this way when I reach my goal, because I know the results of my old eating and drinking patterns.
I'm just eating lean white meats, fish, fresh vegetables and fruits, and whole foods...very little processed, and no fast food, and as much variety as I can afford. Added fat consists of a squirt of Pam so food does not stick. All other fats come naturally from whole foods.
Before anyone gets me wrong, I'm not saying any other method is either good or bad. I'm just saying why bother when you can eat this way for the rest of your life? I have to. I lost 70 Lbs two years ago, but when I hit my goal weight, I started enjoying the beer and the pizza, and the pork, and too much of it. I was digging through boxes in the closet looking for fat clothes last November. I'm now 44 Yrs. old instead of 42 and I have noticed that losing weight is not getting any easier!
I like reading your posts, let us know what you decide and how it works out.

I agree with you 100 per cent!!!! When you adjust your eating habits and increase your exercise output, you are sure to enjoy prositive results. You just start to enjoy the foods that are healthier and better for you, but you don't feel deprived by eating well. The best thing is you don't beat yourself up for eating something not on the "diet plan". It makes more sense to me. It's taken a long time to put this weight on and it will take along time to take it off. I tried Weight Watchers and all sorts of diets looking for quick results but I also end up obsessing about what to eat and when to eat it.Then I end up getting frustrated because it seems like such hard work and give up. This time I know I will reach my goal because I've finally came to the conclussion that losing weight is all in your mind. Its not what we put in our mouths it's why we put it in the our mouths. I have alot of weight to lose (100lbs) but I want it to be enjoyable instead of a task.

I hope it WILL be enjoyable for you, but I'm really having a hard time with any kind of dieting I do. I think there might be something wrong with my metabolism, which is pretty weird cuz I'm only in high school... :(

i might get blasted for this but i personally feel the grapefruit diet isnt the best road...i will say that as my opinion and dont hold any grudges or anything for people following it...try adding carbs back to your diet and just enjoy food in a calorie deficit...combine that with exercise your gaurenteed to lose weight...it may not be quick fire but you will probably feel better...i think your metabolism may be fine but i remember trying the MAYO clinic diet years and years ago...i lost nothing over a week and a half...i guess some of us dont respond to it?....sure mix it up a bit you dont have to change a diet per-se but just have a variety of foods in the diet

Julia: If your still in high school, your body is still going through changes that won't settle down until early 20s. You have a golden opportunity to be proactive about eating habits that fuel this last stage of your development. Try to stay as active as you can. I still think your body has a few surprises in store as far as metabolism goes, but it is so easy not to see past the present. Just dont get caught in the trap of comparing yourself to anyone else.

I competely agree and I understand your point... however, my hight is somewhere between 5' 2'' and 5' 4'' (I'm not sure... it's been a while) and I already weight 155 lbs or so!!! That is crazy... Hopefully I still have my whole life ahead of me and I'm already in such a bad shape. I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! I watched myself gain more and more weight and it has to stop NOW! It seems like all of my hard word is not paying off, and I see no weight loss.
I just don't know what to do anymore.

that is about the smartest thing i have heard! just my opinion, but i agree with you 100%!
i was grocery shopping the other day, and it took me forever reading all the labels calories, fat, sugar, etc! i'm not going to do all of that! it can make you crazy! i now what i can and cannot eat, and if i want to "treat" myself to something i will!
i was upset because i had 2 bowls of cereal! what is the big deal? life is too short to get all crazy! be healthy, be happy, but do it safely!

Yes I agree with taking measures against gaining any more weight, and even losing some of the excess. Because of your age group, I would not be surprised to learn that in a year or two the problem could very well take care if itself, but you can do some things now.
Have you discussed how you feel with your parents? Would they be willing to send you to a nutritionist for some professional guidance? If that's not possible, how about someone through school, like the nurse or the health instructor.
It really would be a good idea to get some good help from someone close at hand. There is soooooo much information, mis-information, fads, gimmicks, and quackary in this area that it confounds even the most intelligent people.
