Well..... I don't think I"ll be doing BFL.... I'm finding it hard to stick with the eating and also the exercise -- especially since I'm now working shift work.... I know that sounds wonky... but it's just how I feel. Also.... I"m beginning to have my doubts about ALL of what BFL claims to achieve..... it works yes, but I think that I need to concentrate elsewhere for now.
On a brighter note, I've made a deal with my dad. He had a terrible dizzy spell today and he decided to quit smoking on the spot (he also has a heart condition). He's been mulling the idea over in his head for a while, and the dizzy spell really scared him I think.... it scared all of us. So.... no more smokes for him.... and no more crap food for me. We're on the honour system, but I think that it's a great way to help each other out.
Also.... I've asked my sister to help me lose weight. She was a plump teen and lost the weight all on her own.... through trial and error. She's now a size 1..... so I'd have to say that she has a good idea what she's doing. Plus... my boyfriend agrees with what she's advocating. Basically, I"ve got great muscle tone.... under the fat.... I mean... I"m 40 lbs overweight and you can still make out the outline of my abs, so I can't have lousy tone right? Both my sis and boyfriend think that I should focus on lots o' green veggies, low fat intake (10 grams or less/day), low carb, with some protein. I'll stick with my crunches and some push ups... maybe some very light weights twice a week so that my muscles don't get lazy, but the big thing that I'm going to be focussing on is cardio. Lots and lots of cardio. I mean, it makes sense doesn't it? Anyway, this is what I will try for now. If nothing else, it's a change of pace and I think that maybe that is what I need. Plus, it's great for my heart and lungs anyway.
Just thought I'd share with everyone.... I was SOOO upset last night.... I haven't been that upset in a while.... I'm totally discouraged about weightloss..... but I"m hoping that this new approach will get me out of the slump I've been in. I"ll give it a whirl and we'll see.
Thanks for listening all!!
Cheers,
Luna :))

Lots of cardio is definitely good for weight loss. I've been alternating between cycling (low intensity long duration) and the elliptical (higher intensity shorter duration) which keeps things fresh. I look forward to seeing your weeks worth of exercise next Friday in the roundup. I've already managed to get 2177 calories burned in the first two days of the week, so I'm on track to get my 5000. I biked for 32 miles today, took me three hours at a 121 average heart rate. That's exactly at the lowest level of cardiovascular intensity, 65% of my age predicted maximum. I was only "in zone" (above 121) for 01:46:03, so a pretty slack Sunday afternoon ride. That slack ride did burn 1677 calories though, which ya gotta love.

I'm just tired of not seeing results. I've built muscle... believe me.... but I still have this huge layer of blubber....so I'm trying a new approach. Both my sister and boyfriend think that it will work better for me, and I feel the same way. I want a flat stomach and lean body -- not a weight lifters body.
Anyway, today I start out mild -- crunches and maybe a few push ups, and watch my eating!! That is my focus for this week. I'll go for some walks and do some stretching, but I don't want to overwhelm myself. I have school starting next week, so then it's back to the ol' gym for me. I'll be using the indoor track on campus.
I"ll keep ya'll posted on my progress!
Cheers,
Luna :))

Luna, it is weird to know that you are discouraged because for the longest time (before your move) you seemed to be the major motivating force here on the board!!! It was so much fun to read your posts and get some humor and motivation at the same time. Where did that Luna go? Bring her back, we need her!!!!! You have definitely been missed. It seems that you are doing good and maybe this new approach will give you a better outlook on your goals. It sounds like you are pretty toned if you can see some definition under the blubber (as you call it...LOL) Once I added some circuit training to my cardio I started melting some inches. It has given me a new outlook on the whole journey I have been on for a new me! I haven't lost much weight on the scale lately but I can see a HUGE difference in my appearance and I feel it in my clothes..........you are going to find something that works for you and you will be able to stick to it and see results. I wish you the best!!!! Hugs
