 Canned chicken
Author: LeeV

Pretty good stuff. I ate a whole can for lunch along with some sweet potatoes.

I think I remember others on this board eating the canned meats. Do any of you have any ideas for what I could do with it? It's good plain but I was wondering if there are things some of you may do to make it better :)

bar-b-q chicken pizza.

(if you are not watching carbs) LOL

get one of those premade fresh pizza crusts.
Use your favorite bar-b-q sauce and cover the crust.
spread the canned chicken evenly over the sauce.
spread shredded white cheese (you can use low fat, etc) over the chicken (as little or as much as you want)

bake, following the directions on the pizza crust.

Wow, that sounds great! Hey, I bet I could also use one of my wheat pitas :)

Thanks :)

I've never heard of canned chicken. Is it like Tuna? If so then definately with a little lite mayo on some bread. Now I have to see if my store has this to check it out.

I have a question though, lets say you make chicken and stick it in the fridge. It lasts what about 3 days? How do they get it to stay good in a can?

Yes, it's kind of the same thing as tuna. Comes in cans the same size.

I imagine vacuum-packing the chicken, like tuna or salmon, keeps it 'fresh'. I like it because it's low in fat and calories.

I eat this almost everyday for luch. 1/2 a can. I usually just put pepper on it. Sometimes I mix it with a little bit of brown rice or tabule (sp).

Ultra low fat Miracle Whip, chopped onion, carrot, zucchini, cucumber and use it for dip for veggies or my favourite baked tostitos.

That sounds good :)

I just had some baked tostitos and salsa for my snack. I like the bite-sized ones - 110 calories for 20 chips.

I will eat the bagged or in a pouch Tyson's premium chunk chicken breast. I eat it plain. Also, Star-Kist has come out with some really good pouches called Tuna Creations which can be eatten right out of the pouch. My favorite is the Sweet & Spicy. It is really good.
