Hey, I read your note and that you have had success in losing weight. I have been trying for years to lose weight and can not. I stayed the same size for the longest time and then I woke one morning and nothing fit. I have gone up 3 sizes since then, can you help?

Hey Julie,
sounds like you've got the answer I've been looking for. I had a baby 18 mths ago and am trying to go back to my pre-pregnancy weight. It has been really hard and sometimes I really despair. I gained 42lbs and have lost 21lbs in the past year by going on and off lots of different faddy diets (i.e slimfast, weight watchers cabbage soup - been there done the lot) I have now joined the gym and been going for the past 8 weeks. I love going but the weight doesn't seem to be budging. I've lost nothing in the past 4 weeks despite going gym about 4 times a week. I've been told that 'I will gain muscle first.... blah blah...muscle heavier than fat blah blah.... '
I just want to get rid of this weight. Can you help me?

I know you don`t want to hear the muscle weigh more blah blah blah routine but I have a ? for you...Did you measure yourself when you started going to the gym? I suggest that you measure yourself and see if you`re losing inches , try some clothes on that were tight on you before you started going to the gym and see if after 8 weeks they feel a bit loser...that`s the only way to judge results at this time...The scale will give you fall ideas...Good luck...Oh yea I`ve only lost 19lbs since january but I went from a size 18+ to a size 14 which normally I wouldn`t fit in unless I weighed another 15 lbs less, so yes muscles does weigh more, inches tracking is a better way...

Hey you,
thanks for the glimmer of hope. You are right. Since I started the gym 8 weeks ago my size 18's have become quite loose and I have miraculously slipped back into a size 16. People keep commenting that I have lost weight but I've only lost 7lbs in the 8 weeks I've been going gym and like I said for the past 4 weeks I've lost nothing.
So you reckon I need to keep at this gym thing for a good few months huh? How often do you go and what sort of training do you do? Are you on any sort of diet? I didn't think there was anyone out there that knew exactly what I been going through. Wish I'd found this site sooner.
Mail me back!!

Hi, I use to go to a gym a few years back but when I couldn`t go anymore, the weight crept back on.....So when I finally decided to lose weight once more I decided to do it at home, my way....
My goal was to get in shape and have a healthier lifestyle...With a husband and two kids I wanted a rouinte that would fit evryones needs...It was a stoke of luck when I found this web site, on it I also found a great e-mail buddy who has help thru many ups and down, and vice versa....The buddy system is a great support...
So here is what I do....
Nothing is restricted but moderation is used instead, since I`m not working at this time, I took over most of the cooking and have switch to a low fat way of cooking by reading up on it, I bought a bottle called "oil pump" which I use instead of the spray kind when I need oil in the pan, I switch to whole wheat, brown rice etc..again I found the info on the web by reasearching "Good Carbs", Snacks in the house are healthier for everyone and potato chips are bought as a treat once in while and no longer on every grocery trip...I`ve added more vegetarian recipes to my menu, my kids are hearing new words like "bulgar, flax seeds, soya etc...And most of all I added a sense of humor to the crazyness...I do cardios 4-5x/week by either using my treadmill or walking outside, to keep this routine and stay motivated, I write a lot, I have an exercise journal, food journal and a journal where I keep my thoughts and ideas ...Also I keep in mind that this post and it`s advices are not written instone and are not law, I use my judgment and common sense take some and leave some, once in a while you`ll get the odd person that has nothing better to do then to come in this site and make sarcastic remarks...They know who they are....So if you want to write and become a buddy for support, my e-mail is fattybutt33@hotmail.com
