Okay, so I've been whining about my elliptical injury and not excercising at all because of it. Saturday I had to walk accross town a couple of times, and that helped, I guess, as far as burning a few calories.
See my daughter is the marching band drum major in the only high school in our town, so in our town's annual founder's parade, my kid has lead the parade for the past three years.
When the kids get to the end of a parade, there has to be a car there to drive them back to the beginning. So I and several other parents park our cars at the end of the parade route, and walk back to the beginning.
Then, carrying water, we walk back along the parade route with the marching band.
My daughter is a Senior, and this will be her last year as drum major. This year she did the coolest thing.
My wife works along the parade route, and as she is under contract to work every Saturday, she has never got to see anything more than a glimpse of our kid as she passed by in the parade. But this year, Kate stopped the marching band, and therefore the entire 2 hour parade, where my wife works, blocking the largest intersection in our town, so that my wife could hear the band play an entire song from beginning to end. My wife came out on the steps of her bank, and watched and cried. It was so cool...even though the marching band director, the parade officials, and the
cops didn't think it was so wonderful at all.
After the parade was over, my knee was hurting like hell, and I was thinking I might have to give up on the excercise. Then while my daughter and I were talking to one of her friends, I saw in the background a very large lady, more than twice my size. She had one of those walkers with a seat, and she was sitting on the seat scooting around backwards and I was thinking that she had probably given up at one time too. I remember one of you folks wrote about seeng a very large woman having trouble in an emegency room, and I was profoundly saddened by this woman's situation.
Then, the walker wheel hit a hole in the asphalt, and the walker broke, and this poor lady came crashing down. Maybe none of you have ever fallen, but if you have, you know that generally the worst pain about falling is the embarrassment, and you spring right up to make sure no one sees you all sprawled about. This woman wanted to do that too, but she just couldn't get herself off the ground. Several of us ran to help her, and the poor thing had to go through the humiliation of explaining that she was not that injured, she was just unable to stand by herself because she was too large.
It took three of us to get her on her feet...and all the time I was thinking
"There but for the grace of God go I..." I bought my new elliptical machine the next day, and I don't care if I have to make it an "el limp tical" machine,
I'm working out.
So that was my parade experience in a nut shell. A really large nut shell.
I'm back to getting into a routine with a new machine. I did my weights too, and my ab stuff and pushups.
Good night all...
Eric

Wow what a stroy. I use to never feel sorry for fat people, until I became one and finally understood how easy it is to get fat and stay fat. I was always underweight until my 30's.
That's really cool what your daughter did. I hope she didn't get in trouble over it, but if so, it may have been worth it.
Glad your back to a routine, but be careful with your knee. When I injured mine I actually got physical therapy for it. It wan't just my knee, but that was part of it. I wouldn't want you to aggravate the injury casuing it to never heal or heal wrong.
What kind of elliptical did you end up getting?

I love the fact that your daughter did that for her Mom. Very sweet! Us girls have to take care of our Moms ya know! I didn't know that you had injuries from your elliptical machine! OMG! Where was I when you needed me! LMBO.............hope you are okay! Well, I have gained back 4 pounds Eric and I have done nothing different. I haven't lost any inches. I am still going to the gym 5 days a week and working out for an hour and a half. I have even added 3 to 4 days of bicylcing 3 to 6 miles at a time. I cry alot because nothing is working. I have decided to do the only thing that ever works for me and that is to eat about 800 calories a day at the most. Maybe just for a week or two to jump start my metabolism! Hugs buddy!
Smiles, Renee :)
